Yes, but Instead of the dirt and gunk getting trapped in your filters it will get sucked into your motor which will quickly ruin it.

SOURCE: vacuum

Yep check the hose at the back as it may well be clogged. Also undo the soleplate/floorhead and have a look up the dirt channel behind the floor brush. Either that take off the main bin and check the dust channel leading down to the hose.

SOURCE: Dirt Devil Extreme Quick Vac - Won't turn on

Check that the filters are completely clear and not blocked - especially the top filter on top of the bin assembly. If its clogged completely brush it free of dirt and then reassemble. Make sure the inner cone filter and mesh filter is also completely clean. Then check the hose and main dust channel - something is clogged that makes this machine overheat and stop working - and often with this model (Hoover also make it in the UK under the Alyx name) its down to clogged filters or small clogs of dust in the dust channels.

SOURCE: suction problem

check the intake hose at the bottom it may be clogged.try blowing into the long hose if you can't blow through it then you have a clog somewhere between the long hose and your intake hose at the bottom.the intake hose is the somewhat clear hose that comes up from behind the base at the bottom.you will see it on the backside

SOURCE: dirt devil purpose for pets vacuum quit working

The motor overheats from the filter being clogged underneath the canister or the canister or both are clogged-without the air flow the motor overheats and shuts off as a precautionary measure.By letting the motor cool off it will start again but will turn off shortly if the filters are not properly cleaned.Hope this helps everyone.

My Dirt Devil Envision #086710 is not picking up. Hoses clear, new belt, brush cleaned of hair etc. Air leaking from the place where the cord comes out of the vacuum at the bottom is this normal?

Sounds like you may have a hole in a hose somewhere. Check the internal hoses and make sure they are connected correctly. Check that your cannister is locked in. This may be preventiing suction also.

How do I clean the filter

The foam filter can be hand washed, squeezed and them dried.
The pleated filter really never seems to loose it stall smell after cleaning. It's best to tap it against the hard ground to free the dirt.
Washing it can cause odors.

How to clean filter type f51

Hi! The F51 filter can be rinsed to clean. Hold the pleated filter under running water to rinse. Do not use any soap or detergent. Allow filter 24 hours to air dry before replacing in the vacuum. The foam filter can be washed the same way. The filter should be replaced about once a year. I have included a link where you may go to purchase a replacement filter if needed. Thanks!

How do i clean canister of dirt devil featherlight bagless caniter vacuum

Hi there! To clean the canister or dirt cup, first remove the dirt cup from the vacuum. Twist off the dirt cup lid. Remove the pleated filter and empty the dirt cup. Tap the filter against the trash can until the dirt stops falling. If the filter is really dirty it may need to be replaced. The filter should be replaced every 6 months. I have included a link where you may go to purchase a replacement filter if needed.

Thanks! Hope this helps!

I have a dirt devil featherlite carpet shampooer. It has been a great one for about five years without any problems. I need to know if anyone knows where I can find the replacement filters?

Hi There,

We actually do carry the foam filter for your Dirt Devil Featherlite (also manufactured as the Easy Steamer) carpet cleaner.

According to the Dirt Devil parts diagram for the CE6000, your machine takes the following foam filter. Here's a direct link to the filter on our website:
Dirt Devil Featherlite, Easy Steamer Foam Filter Part# 1-700750-600

Here's a link for the parts diagram for your Dirt Devil Featherlite CE6000 carpet cleaner. This will give you all of the part numbers, and drawings for each part on your machine should need any further parts:
http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/vacuumcleanerbacgs/dirt-devil-easy-steamer-featherlite-ce6000-parts-diagram.pdf

I hope this helped. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to use the comment field here on the repair page to contact me, I'm always happy to answer any follow up questions.

If you found this repair helpful, please be so kind and rate the repair helpful and / or leave feedback for me. Thanks so much!

HOW DO YOU WASH THE JC0280-000 FILTER SAFELY? IT'S FROM A BAGLESS VACUUM. THANKS

The easiest way to wash this is to put it in lukewarm / to the touch warm tap water in a basin and drop in some washing up liquid/dish liquid as this is one of the more gentler cleaning agents you can use. Leave it for a few hours without doing anything. Rather than use a brush which can tear the paper pleats/folds, inspect the filter to see if it has been rid of dust then use your fingers to gently widen the pleats to ensure all the dirt is gone.

Sadly for this type of filter it is near impossible to get it looking white again. However in lieu of letting it room dry for 24 hours (sometimes the JC0208-000 can take up to three days until it is bone dry)
Slip the filter into a pillow case and put into an electric tumble dryer. Select a low heat and check every 30 mins to see if the filter has dried.

Dont forget to rate this, thanks.

Vacuum Problem

The Bissell can have several filters in it, depending on the model. Some have a round hepa filter that is covered with a foam sleeve. This filter is located at the bottom of the dirt cup. Others have a foam filter that is located under the dirt cup in a pull out drawer. Also, they can have a cylindrical separator above the dirt cup which can be removed and washed. They are usually a blue plastic and you reach in and turn it a 1/4 turn counter-clockwise to remove. If your machine has the hepa filter, when you remove the dirt cup, the filter is at the bottom and you turn the bottom 1/4 turn and the clear housing will come off to access the filter. You should also check the small filter on the machine just below where the cup sits. This will only be there if your machine has the hepa filter on it.
