Cub Cadet with Onan 14hp . PTO clutch and PTO engagement switch both new. PTO clutch disengages whenever it wants. Cold or hot. Charging system issues? How to info check and what to look for?

The clutch likely has an adjustable air gap that requires adjustment. The procedure will be outlined in the model service manual. Typical gap is 0.015"

Any adjustment for hino dutro tipper pto.

When engaging the pto it is important that you have the clutch disengaged so that the pto gear is not spinning in the box.before it engages.
The pto gear runs off the counter shaft of the gear box and is spinning all the time the engine is running
when engaging the pto ,you are physically engaging a gear ( like selecting 1st gear) so you have to stop the counter shaft spinning so that the pto gear will engage with slashing

Adjustment

On the front of the clutch, you should see 3 or 4 bolts with springs under them, they are the adjustment screws. Insert a .018" feeler gage between the clutch's plates and tighten the screws. You will have to go around to each screw several times as adjusting one effects the setting at the others.

I have af935 the power takeoff will not turn on at times other times it kick back out would like to know how to adjust it.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

All of the PTO functions are controlled by a combination of safety switches.
1. Clutch Brake Pedal switch
2. Seat occupant switch
3. PTO engaged Switch

(Noted this is a 3 cylinder diesel)

Any one of the three can cause the problem your having.
- One of the main reasons this happens is that the clutch often is not properly adjusted. The clutch must be fully to the UP position. You have to crank the engine without starting it to test this. I use a large screwdriver across the starter solenoid terminals so it does not start. If the clutch brake pedal moves more to the up position when cranking the engine then the clutch is not properly adjusted. The clutch must be adjusted so that the clutch pedal is all the way to the top. I.e the variable speed pulley is fully open. After clutch adjustment test the moder deck / PTO.
- Second reason they kick out is that the occupant safety switch (seat switch) is out of adjustment. Stupid things like a small bump cause the deck to shut down if the seat switch is not right. All you do is adjust it so that it is closer to the seat sensing position... One turn of the locking nuts (lower and upper) clockwise will make a world of difference.
As far as the PTO itself there must be at least a 0.020 gap when it is disengaged. If it is larger than that then the gap needs to be adjusted. The PTO clutch on these needs adjusted at regular intervals. I recommend checking the gap every 100 hours. The PTO clutch is probably out of adjustment there are bolts on the PTO clutch that have springs on them if the springs break it goes out of adjustment just replace the springs and tighten everything up. The other thing to look at would be the engaging lever itself.

One more thing is this PTO clutch has a fuse. I can't remember now where the fuse is but I am certain there is a fuse. Find the fuse and make sure that there are not any problems with the fuse holder. (hot, loose, corroded etc.)

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I have a Countax K14 ride on mower the cutter deck

Hello ianh_2007:

Usually this Problem is Caused by a Blown Fuse or a Bad PTO Ground.
1-The Following is a Basic File I Made for Checking the PTO (Blade Engagement).
>>The Most Common Cause for this Problem is the PTO Ground. >>A Quick Ground Check is to Use Another Wire and Ground the PTO at the Harness Connection Nearest the PTO.
>>Be Careful and Do Not Ground the HOT Wire. Use a Multimeter and Locate the Ground Wire.
>>Clean the PTO Ground and All the Connections for the PTO Wiring Harness.
>>If you have an Ohmmeter, Disconnect the Wiring Harness from the Front of the Clutch and Check the Resistance of the Clutch. You should have around 4 or 5 OHMs. If at or near Zero, the Coil has Shorted.
2- >>The Following is a Basic File I made for Setting the PTO Clearance. Any Input is Appreciated. **Some of the Newer PTOs cannot be Adjusted.
>>If you can Get a Blade Style Feeler Gauge between the PTO Magnet and Clutch, then Set the Clearance at .015in. The Newer PTOs have the Same Set Up as the Older PTOs, except there is No Adjustments.
>>I Suggest also that you Rig a 12 Volt Light for Testing the Current Flow to the PTO while Operating the Mower. If the Light Blinks During Operation, then you have a Bad Connection somewhere to the PTO Clutch.
>>If the Light Stays Steady and the PTO Still Kicks in and Out, then it is the Adjustment.
>>You can Also Try Turning the Spring Loaded Adjuster Nuts 1/4 Turn and Operate the Mower. Do Not Adjust Over 1/2 Turn.
>>If you have Adjusted to 1/2 Turn and the Problem is Still Present and you Know the Voltage to the PTO is Steady, then Replace the PTO.**
Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance.
Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Be Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck

Respectfully

John deere 2010 tractor. pto grinds and wont engage

The PTO usually has a clutch that has to be engaged so that you can select the PTO rotation setting. I had a problem like that on my tractor and all it needed was a little adjustment on the PTO clutch lever, so it could disengage the PTO gearbox properly.
