I solved this problem by going to a post on FixYa dated 6/4/08 oor 09 by Timetoknit.
The post mentioned a free download of "White's" Manual that is out of print, at White's sister company "the Singer Sewing Company's" website: www.singerco.com It also gave the download steps. The download steps are on my Solution post.
I downloaded the manual and printed it on 7/30/09.

I found the solution. I read a posted dated 6/04/09 by Timetoknit that solved my problem. Thank you, Timetoknit.
A free download was available on the White's sister company, The Singer Sewing Company's, website.
To download a fee copy of the "White" Manual, please follow these steps:
1) go to www.singerco.com
2) From the "I am looking for" drop down menu, select "Instruction Manuals"
3) To find your particular manual, enter W and then your model number (in my case, I enteredz: W700ss)
in the search box
4) Click on "Search".
The manual download box will appear in pdf format.
Click on the box to download it.
