Have you looked for hidden staples in the machine. Sometimes they can be hard to spot.

SOURCE: Staples SPL-1506X

Well, despite the manufacters warning label I choose to take the shredder apart and found that one of the plastic gears was broken. Hence the motor runs, but the blades do not turn. The thing I didn't understand, the there are metal gears and plasic gears...I can only imagine that the plastic gears at one point or another are going to give. I would suggest not to void the manufacters warrenty, take the shredder back, and get one that is built a little stronger. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: I HAVE A MODEL SPL-1506X PAPER SHREDDER, YOU HEAR

The optics are OK!
There is a small electromagnetic sensor on the cuttershaft which senses the input load.
I could be maladjusted or defective.

SOURCE: Royal 15mx only works in reverse after clearing jammed paper

try resetting the shreddar, unplugging it waiting for about 20 seconds and then plugging back in. Check to make sure there is no paper or paper clips stuck in the shreddar, make sure the unit is properly mounted on bin, the overheat light isn't on is it? if none of this helps and you have a warranty on your shreddar now would be a good time ot call them as you might have a hardware problem.

SOURCE: staples spl-710sh paper shredder stopped shredding

This exact thing has happened to my unit as well. Ive disassembled it to discover that 5-7 teeth on the gear that the motor drives have been stripped off. Unless the gear can be replaced (which is probably not worth the expense), then the unit is toast. Sorry. Good luck.

How to oil shredder staples spl-1506x?

You can buy commercial products, or run some wax paper through your machine periodically. The wax will not gum up like oil and attract dirt.

Spl-1506x shredder only runs in reverse

Daniel:

Unplug the shredder... Take the top off and turn it upside down. Use a screwdriver to take the lower cowling off and look at the motor. If the mounting area where the motor sits looks melted at all, the machine is toast. If the motor mounting area looks good, look at the slot where the paper is inserted... there should be a sensor (that "sees" the paper when you insert it) at the paper slot. Check to see that the sensor isn't damaged.

Staples SPL-770M shredder with overheat light even when cool

Just a FYI: I had the same problem. Nothing appeared jammed. But I took the housing cover off and low and behold the rubber roller that turns the shredders had MELTED to the inside. That's why it wouldn't work. This happened while shredding a single DVD - something I had done effortlessly on numerous occasions. You may want to check to see if the roller melted or if some debris has jammed up inside the unit, like mine did often.
