SOURCE: Microwave won't heat

The two possible causes are a faulty door switch and a bad magnatron. You can pull the top cover off of the unit and check all of the door switches (there are 2-6 of them all on a common rail, me normally closed)). If the door switches all check out, replace the magnatron, diodesmag-glass_10x10.gif, and capacitor

The common reasons are a shorted diode many use, the inverter board used for control and power, and the Magnetron which does the work

Why microwave does not heat anymore

Well, we are looking at a bad magnetron, cracked high voltage diode, or a shorted high volage capacitor. I would suggest replacing the microwave oven because the expence involved to have it serviced.

Our Whirlpool over the range microwave makes a clicking sound for a few seconds then shuts the microwave off. The microwave is unusable. The sound seems to be coming from the control panel.

If the cooling fan is not working, that would explain the shutdown problem. The function of the fan is to cool the magnetron down when it is warming or cooking the food, if the fan fails to run, the thermal fuse will detect heat rise causing a shutdown with in 5 seconds or more, the clicking suggest fan issues. I would recommend a whirlpool technician to go through the system.

Microwave seems to work but doesn't heat up

HI, when the Magnetron becomes unstable, the microwave will not heat anything. simply replace the Magnetron. This device creates the heating action and it is damaged and not functional at this time.

Microwave

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.

This may possibly be a door switch issue. The door has to interlock 3 switches to provide safety and performance functions. If the performance function switch fails or is misaligned, it can cause these symptoms. Occasionally you may encounter a "sticky" door switch that may correct itself with a little harder closure of the door. If you are not familiar with how a microwave oven works, I would suggest a professional repairman look at this problem as it involves safety related issues.

If my assistance helped resolve this issue, please show your appreciation by rating how effective my advice was in resolving this issue.
Thank you,

Microwave panasonic in demonstrateion mode and won't heat remove from lthis mode

First try hitting the Clock pad three times.

Or if it has a Function pad, hit that, then follow the prompts. On some models, it's Function > 0 > 2.

If this is a model NE1257 (the model under which you posted) then it doesn't have a Function pad.

If none of this works, I'd suggest unplugging it for a few seconds or so, then trying again.

If none of this works, then please reply back with your brand and full model number.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Microwave appears to work fine but will not heat at all.

Sounds like the thermal protector on the mag tube quit. It may have gotten too hot and opened up. That is the lesser of all the evils that can happen to a Microwave.

Microwave stopped working

Generally, you get something unless the fuse inside is blown. There is generally a fuse inside the unit when you remove the button package. First, make sure that the outlet you have is good. Plug something else into it and see that it works.
