SOURCE: I have a Miehl cva4070.

take a long fingernail file that is a fine grit. hold it with a pair of needlenose pliers, and use it to clean the contacts in the back of the machine where the drip tray plugs in. You need to clean each contact top and bottom. you can tape the fingernail file to a ruler or pencil or whatever you need to so that you can reach the contacts. it is very tight as the opening is only an inch or so tall. dont go crazy with the file, just lightly touch each contact. also you can swap the two metal contacts on the drip tray. you will notice that they have little wear lines on them that are in different locations. if you swap them , they will be exposed to new surface. if that doesnt work, you may have an internal leak that is shorting the drip tray contacts from the back of the machine. If there is water back there, it is the same as the drip tray being full.

SOURCE: I have a message: Empty the drip tray, but when I empty it, i still get the same message and the machine will not respond to any arrow inputs, so, I can't make any drinks

I had the same issue with the empty drip tray message not going away. At first I was reluctant to remove the machine and open the back, but it is pretty easy to do. Once you remove the back panel you can see the contacts. My contacts were covered with coffee grinds and moisture. I did a thorough cleaning and dried them off. I put the machine back together and then restarted. Everything worked like a charm. I think when the contacts were wet with debris, they weren't able to discern if the drip tray was in contact or not. Thank you for the suggestion to open and clean. Saved a service charge. Also allowed me to get a better idea of how the machine is put together.

SOURCE: Miele CVA 2660 coffee Maker. Was getting Empty Drip Tray errors. Drip tray contact springs are corroded & broken, no longer reading. The numbers are 06579921 & 06603101. Cannot find parts, help!

Well if you know the part numbers you can try buying them directly from an authorized repair station . Some will not sell you the part because they want to do it for you and soak you at the same time.

If you have the part numbers you can try locating them on ebay or google for them and/or equivalents.

Hi, what is the parts serial no for contact springs in Miele CVA5065?

Miele are the only people that sell spare parts and the drip tray contacts aren't listed. You should always test contact components for continuity with a digital multimeter before replacing items on guesses.

After descaling E6/E60 it now continues to display Empty drip tray have cleaned out tray and inside tray receptical reset by turning of but hasnt helped

The trays often have a float switch in or above the tray to signal that it is full. Check that the float hasn't stuck in the "up" position. The machine will still think its full.

My Miele CVA 4066 is stuck in descale mode.

Does it stop in the step where it tells you to remove the drip tray and empty it - you reinstall the drip tray and nothing happens?
If you reset power - does it start the Descale process all over?

I have the Miele 4066. I ran the descaling program. When it was finished it read a message that it didn't run properly to run again. But it gets stuck on empty drip tray mode. I even unplugged it

Take out drip tray and inspect the 2 contacts at the rear. Clean these and surrounding area. Also inspect the contacts at the back of the tray slot to see if these are also dirty. Then re-try. Hopefully this will fix the problem. Regards

Saeco energica is half way through descaling cycle but is getting stuck how do I reset

Thoroughly clean the drip tray before putting it back may help. If there is still coffee inside which is wet the sensor may see this as water which is still in the drip tray.

I have a Miele coffe maker and its stuck on empty the drip tray cycle....cannot recognize that the drip tray has been emptied. How can I get out of this mode.?

I just posted this solution in another model.

I have a Miele CVA 4085 built-in coffee maker which had a similar problem to this and other problems where it gets locked into a state where it demands you empty the drip tray even though it is empty. In my case it was at the end of a cleaning cycle and refused to go on. Cutting power and restarting always had it return to the same state: Cleaning, empty drip tray.

I cleaned the contacts on the drip tray and at the back using the nail file, still nothing. Then I found a post on how to get into the programming menu, which on the CVA 4085 is this:
  1. Open the door and switch off the power with the rocker switch on the top left.Wait at least 5 seconds.
  2. Switch the rocker on then VERY QUICKLY close the door and hold the clear button for 5 seconds.
  3. With your other finger touch the ON button then pull both fingers away at the same time.
  4. Do 5 rapid presses of the clear button but hold your finger down on the last press and keep holding it down until the programming menu comes up.
  5. Do not press the reset button that you see at the top of the menu (unless your German is quite good or you have access to Google Translate).
  6. Scroll down until you find the reset cleaning button and select it. Once you have confirmed you can then exit programming mode by powering off.
It took me quite a while to get to this point, but at least I can now recognize the German word for drip tray.

DESCALING The Saphira has an integrated descaling program. The procedure takes about 60 minutes. Once started, the descaling procedure may not be stopped. • When acid-containing descalers are used, immediately remove any splashes or drops on sensitive surfaces, particularly from natural stone and wood surfaces. Also, take the appropriate safety precautions. • Turn off the Saphira by pressing the "ON/OFF" button. • Press the button "Descale" until an acoustic signal is heard. • Display: EMPTY DRIP TRAY (Fig.1) • Display: INSERT AGENT IN TANK • Display: PRESS DECALCIFYING Dissolve 2 DESCALING tablets completely in 2.5 cups of water in a vessel and pour the mixture into the empty water tank. Place a sufficiently large container under the steam tube and the coffee delivery outlet. • Press the Descale button • Display: UNIT DECALCIFYING • Display: PLEASE WAIT • An acoustic signal is heard. • Display: EMPTY DRIP TRAY (Fig.1) • Display: FILL WATER TANK • Display: PRESS DECALCIFYING • Press the Descale button • Display: UNIT DECALCIFYING • Display: PLEASE WAIT • An acoustic signal is heard. • Display: EMPTY DRIP TRAY • Display: CLEAN CONTACTS

Cant find my manual and I dont recall what descaling means. It is stuck on this and wont do anything. Please advise

According to the owner's manual, you sould empty the water resevoir. Fill the water resevoir with white vinegar (it says 48 oz). Place a ceramic (not paper) cup in the drip tray and run a travel mug cycle with no k-cup in the machine. Throw the vinegar out. Repeat this process until the resevoir is empty. Be sure to open and close the lid so the cup sizes flashes each time. let the brewer sit for 4 hours while still on (the vinegar's still inside). Rinse out the resevoir, fill it with water and run the cycles through until the resevoir is empty again. If there is any residual taste. repeat the rinse. If it still say descale when you're done, the book says to repeat the process.

With the selector buttons find Descaling and press OK
This process takes about 35 minutes

1. Empty the water tank, drip tray and grounds container.
2. Insert tray and grounds container, refill tank with with 0.5 Lt. of water and add descaling agent (not the pill or powder used for clean cycle) to tank. Make sure its completely dissolved.
3. Place a container or cup under the steam wand large enough to hold 0.5 lt.

Display says Descaling and press OK
4. Press the water button

Display says Descaling in Progress
after the descaling agent is exhausted

Display says Empty Drip Tray and Spent Grounds
5 Also remove rinse and refill the water tank to Max line
6. Press the water button again

Display says Descaling in Progress
after the machine stops
7. Empty the drip tray and spent. ground container and replace
Display says Rinse Press OK
Display says Appliance Ready

In essence go to Descaling Press OK and follow the directions as they are displayed.
