Descaling the coffee maker and almost done but stuck at end where it says empty the drip tray, keep inserting it back in have cleaned contacts but wont progress
SOURCE: I have a Miehl cva4070.
take a long fingernail file that is a fine grit. hold it with a pair of needlenose pliers, and use it to clean the contacts in the back of the machine where the drip tray plugs in. You need to clean each contact top and bottom. you can tape the fingernail file to a ruler or pencil or whatever you need to so that you can reach the contacts. it is very tight as the opening is only an inch or so tall. dont go crazy with the file, just lightly touch each contact. also you can swap the two metal contacts on the drip tray. you will notice that they have little wear lines on them that are in different locations. if you swap them , they will be exposed to new surface. if that doesnt work, you may have an internal leak that is shorting the drip tray contacts from the back of the machine. If there is water back there, it is the same as the drip tray being full.
I had the same issue with the empty drip tray message not going away. At first I was reluctant to remove the machine and open the back, but it is pretty easy to do. Once you remove the back panel you can see the contacts. My contacts were covered with coffee grinds and moisture. I did a thorough cleaning and dried them off. I put the machine back together and then restarted. Everything worked like a charm. I think when the contacts were wet with debris, they weren't able to discern if the drip tray was in contact or not. Thank you for the suggestion to open and clean. Saved a service charge. Also allowed me to get a better idea of how the machine is put together.
Well if you know the part numbers you can try buying them directly from an authorized repair station . Some will not sell you the part because they want to do it for you and soak you at the same time.
If you have the part numbers you can try locating them on ebay or google for them and/or equivalents.
