Newer refrigerators have a main mother board (computer board) that all parts and functions are channeled through. I have seen your problem happen with a defective mother board but it could be something else. Not even sure you have a mother board without a brand and model number.
Not to my knowledge. The mother board runs everything in the refrigerator. Is your parts supplier getting you the newest updated boards. Usually if GE has a major board problem it gets superseded to a new number. List the board number you used last and I can check it for you.
From what I know of ge, ice makers are independent. Mother board has no control over I'm. How old is this fridge. Some of the newer ge are made by Samsung and are control.
On some models you have a mother board located on the back outer section of the refrigerator that can be faulty. There is a tech sheet located behind the kick plate or under the front of the ref bottom to refer to. If someone olays with the digital controls you may have to reprogram the mother board, which is explained in the tech sheet.
Laura, You win. Most GE side by side refrigerators have an electronic mother board. Data is feed to it from 5 thermistors, 2 in the freezer and 3 in the fresh food compartment. In turn the motherboard takes that varying information from the thermistors and controls all functions in the machine.
The board will remove by prying at the bottom of the board . Sometimes I can use my hand only , pulling out from the bottom , to remove . Other times , I have to pry from the bottom to remove . Do not try to remove the dispensor frame , only the board .
funny you asked this question i just had this same problem this week at a customers home. you need the electronic control board located in the compressor compartment behind the refrig. it is mounted in the white box on the left hand rear corner. the whirlpool part number is 2304095 and it is around 175.00 i'm not sure who a local part supplier around you would be if all else fails you could get thru sears..
Hi. Your temperature control board display is bad. You may also have a power convertor board located next to the compressor. Normally you would replace the temperature control board first. I have a temperature control board listed on Ebay as item number 250211412492. Good luck, Mack
