On Toyota pickup 1989 3VZE 3.0 what should the fuel pressure pump have?

If you are sure the fusel pump is losing pressure or stops working check the EFI relay in the fuse box under the hood, check to make sure the EFI fuse is not loose or cracked, locate the circuit opening relay it controls the fuel pump and try a new relay, if nothing else replace the fuel pump, another possibility is the air flow meter, there are contacts inside that turn the fuel pump on and off as the meter door opens and closes.

Friend, I know these Toyota Pickups inside out. Since you know the fuel pump is good, and has a clean fuel filter, then use a test light on the power side of the fuse and crank the engine over. If you don't have power to turn on the test light bulb, then the problem is in wiring between switch and fuse. Being EFI, the computer tells it when to power the pump. May not have power the first crank, cause is clearing, but ALWAYS power on second crank to start. The fuel still in the injector rail will be used first, no power on first crank, then once the pressure drops when that fuel is used, computer will make the pump come on.

Could be either a fuel delivery problem or an ignition problem. Replace the fuel filter and check for correct fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Replace the fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, and pickup strainer as necessary. If the fuel pressure is correct at the fuel rail, begin diagnosing for an ignition system issue.

Its possible the check valve in the pump is allowing the fuel pressure to drain back into the tank when the engine is off.
Have you checked fuel pressure with a gauge before and after the first attempt ?

The fuel pressure line is getting blocked.Get the fuel pressure checked.

that happen to me fuel pump when out. have it checked for fuel pressure.

Sounds like it might be a bad fuel pump, check fuel pressure should be 2.8-4.3 psi

First thing I would check would be the fuel pump pressure,then go from there,but sounds like the fuel pump.

Fuel pump is a possible cause but I would check the ignition timing first.

Time for a new pump, there should enought pressure to shoot a stream across a good size shop. Pumps can sound like there pumping but there not. If pump was good you would not be able to hold your finger over the line.
