Need wiring diagram. Dishwasher starts with door open. This is whirlpool model wdt770payb0

Thanks for the response. I have checked the switch and it is working. There is another problem with dishwasher and I think the will take a control board to fix it. Hopefully it will also fix the not knowing the door is open problem also.

My Whirpool dishwasher continues to run when we open the door instead of automatically stopping.

There is a small microswitch that tells the control board if the door is open or closed. Yours is closed circuit, passing current all the time. Generic Whirlpool dishwasher videos. Please always include full 'make model (what it is)' as first 3 words of every question.

Dishwasher wont run water or turn off

This sounds like the float switch is stuck or bad. You might be able to wiggle the float or float rod around to free it up. Otherwise you will need to check the float switch itself and replace. This is easy and inexpensive. This link will walk you thru checking and replacing the float switch. It may be a different model but the process will be the same. If you need a diagram or illustration of your specific model enter your model # there. http://appliancehelponline.com/dishfloatwaterinletvideo.html

Whirlpool dishwasher

If the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it will stop working and lock the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive).

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (ie. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).

Whirlpool Dishwasher won't run

If your dishwasher doesn't work at all, check these:
Power from the house Is there power getting to the dishwasher? This can be difficult to test, because dishwashers are usually wired directly to an electrical circuit, rather than plugged into the wall. But at least check for a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker.

Door switch The door switch is important because, if it's defective, the dishwasher won't work at all. To reach it, you need to remove the control panel cover, or sometimes the interior liner of the door. If it's defective, you need to completely replace it.

Wiring Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dishwasher, burns and breaks the connection. If that's the problem, the wires must be repaired/replaced as necessary. If that's not the problem, check the wiring to the door switch, the wiring between the door and the lower part of the dishwasher, and the wiring to the timer. Repair any broken, burned, brittle, or defective wiring, using the proper appliance-grade wire and connectors.

Timer or selector switch Although it's uncommon, the timer or the selector switch may be defective. If so, you need to replace the defective part, because neither of these can be repaired.
