I have a Philips Norelco Multigroom. It had been working great until yesterday, when it died. I plugged it in,but it only worked a minute this a.m.before it quit again.

SOURCE: head of philips norelco speed xl fell apart.

Same thing happened to my father's shaver. After working on it for about 30 mins, this is how I fixed it. You need to start with the top silver piece/cover. Turn it over so you see inside of it. Drop the 3 screens into the holes upside down (so they face out). You need to rotate the screens until they sit as low as possible. Now drop in the 3 blades, again sharp side down. There should be a triangular piece with 3 circles attached to it. One side is gray, and the other side has a black triangular piece. If you look closely each leg of the black piece has a tiny picture of a lock and an arrow. Rotate the black piece in the opposite direction of the arrow. Place the gray side down lining it up with the three blades. Now rotate the black piece, it will lock into position, and hold the blades in place! Finally, the silver head has a little hinge on one side. This hinge is flexiable. Bend it to a 90 degree angle, and slip it into the notch on the top part of the main body of the shaver. Close the head part, in my father's shaver I had to press a lever in the front to snap it into place.

Hope this helps!

The Philips Norelco Bodygroom BG2040, does this model support multi-voltage charging ie. 100v - 240v? Or is it only 100-120v?

Welcome to Fixya,

According to the manual of The Philips Norelco Bodygroom BG2040, use only the cord and charging stand that was provided. Also you just have to plug the adaptor into 120V AC outlet.

If you want to know more about your Philips Norelco Bodygroom BG2040, just click here for the manual.

Hope this will help you and answered your question.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Battery needs replacement

Replacing the batteries is not an easy job. You need to have a special Torx screwdriver to undo the screws.

The batteries are soldered onto the Control Board (it's unfortunately not just a case of cracking open the case and putting in batteries in an instant)

It may be worth speaking to your local Philips Service Center (refer to www.philips.com)

Your shaver should also be a Mains shaver - if you plug it in and it works full power immediately you've got a workaround. I usually recommend if you're replacing a shaver to spend a little more $$'s to get one that is mains and rechargeable so that when the batteries die, the shaver is still useable.

Norelco 8894XL will not take a charge

Sounds like you're getting to the end of your natural battery life. As for replacing the batteries, it's not an easy job. You need to have a special Torx screwdriver to undo the screws.

The batteries are soldered onto the Control Board (it's unfortunately not just a case of cracking open the case and putting in batteries in an instant)

It may be worth speaking to your local Philips Service Center (refer to www.philips.com)

Not being at work, I can't check whether your shaver is a mains/rechargeable, but if you plug it in and it works full power immediately you've got a workaround. I usually recommend if you're replacing a shaver to spend a little more $$'s to get one that is mains and rechargeable so that when the batteries die, the shaver is still useable.
