The Philips Norelco Bodygroom BG2040, does this model support multi-voltage charging ie. 100v - 240v? Or is it only 100-120v?

I have a bodygroom bought in Europe, with a European style power plug (our voltage is 240 V). However it works fine from 120V when I use it in the US using a simple travel power plug adapter. So at least mine is multi-voltage.

Welcome to Fixya,

According to the manual of The Philips Norelco Bodygroom BG2040, use only the cord and charging stand that was provided. Also you just have to plug the adaptor into 120V AC outlet.

I bought mine from the US and am trying to charge it in Australia for the first time. Looks like it doesn't work the other way around, as mine requires a step down transformer to convert the Australian standard voltage from 240V to 120V (American standard). Looks like it's going to cost me another $50 - $70

I take all that back. I had just placed the shaver the wrong way on the stand. Looks to be charging fine now.

Check the shaver head for damage. Most likely, there is damage to the thin foil. If so, you will find a replacement at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

Using battery charger overseas

it's alway suggested that you simply use plug adaptors to change shape of plugs for overseas-do not reduce voltage since most all chargers including yours support 220 or 110
