It sounds, as though, something could be faulty with your defrost. Before you do anything with that, be sure, that the air vent into the refrigerator isn't blocked. Cold air moves from the freezer into the refrigerator, which provides the cooling. Check your evaporator. See if it is frozen with a massive amount of ice. It is in the freezer behind a wall, where the fan is. Now, back to the defrost. Most of the time, it could be one or two problems. The first could be the defrost heater. It is located within the freezer. It is close to the evaporator. It heats up during the defrost cycle. To tell, when the defrost cycle occurrs, the evaporator fan will shut off, as well as, the compressor. Nothing but the interior light/s will come, once you open the door. The other problem could be, that the defrost control is bad. It triggers the defrost cycle. It is a timer, really. It slowly spins. In some cases, the timer motor stops running. If you can locate the defrost control, it will have a stem, which can be turned with a screwdriver. Turn it and see, if the box goes into a defrost? If it does, great. Defrost cycles vary in length, depending on make. Wait, for up to one half hour, if the box doesn't come out of defrost, I would say, that the control is bad. If it does come out of the defrost, great. Now, place it back into defrost, and check the heater. Be careful and don't get burned! The heater should get gradually hot. If it doesn't, the heater is bad. If you know how to use a OHM metter, use it. I hope this helped? Good luck.

Freezer works but refrigerator is warm

Is the fridge thermostat suspect.... it would appear power supply and motherboard are fine... are there 2 separate compressors... if so... it may be that is the problem on the fridge side.... in which case - can you confirm if the air circulating fan is operational.

Hotpoint Rfa52 fridge not working. Freezer ok.

is temp or freezer control turned all the way up? set frig / freezer control in middle and wait 24 hours. do you feel cool air going in freezer from vent? if not change control as stated and see if you have air flow. control door to frig may also be broken or stuck

Hotpoint RFA52 fridge freezer

if you cant hear the motor/compressor running when energised then its likely to be a thermostat fault... but on energising the system if you hear a buzz then a click then its more seriously the main motor... turn off at mains for 5 mins then turn on... this should tell you either way

Freezer cold, fridge warm

Hi, You have a self defrosting problem.
Remove the rear inside freezer panel and check continuity on the defrost element and bi-metal switch. The bi-metal has to be tested cold. If there is continuity on both parts, you will need to change the defrost timer.
The most common part that goes bad is the element. I hope this helps you. Please leet me know if I can assist you further.

FFA45W

Hotpoint FFA47X fridge/freezer. I have had this fridge for 3 years now and has always on regular occasions decided to defrost when it feels like it and asks me to consume all the food immediately! I have wasted massive amounts of money on food and calls to hotpoint and have had a hotpoint engineer out to sort the problem about a year ago. It goes fine for a few months..then it defrosts all over again! Its just done it again, luckily I am not using the freezer anymore it only had some peas in there. Has anyone had this problem and solved it?? I would really like to use my freezer again but am loosing patience with hotpoint! I'd be very grateful for some advice.

Freezer ok fridge warm (15 degrees)

You have a hotpoint mistral f/f i take it in silver..

Check to see if the fan is running at the bottom on the back of the fridge its next to the compressor behind the panel ...
if the compressor is running and the fan is not then your fault is the fan..

IF the fan is running then its the sensors...

These are located in the freezer section, pull out the draws and remove the panel behind it.... six screws.......... you will c threes plugs at the top ledt hand side.. the yellow one is for the fridge the green one for the freezer.... replace both if your freezer is not working...

Also just below the freezer door there is a panel remove the panel and use a vaccumm to clean the fluff that has built up on the coils..

hope this helps if you need anymore help dont hesitate to ask...

by the way the sensors are called evap thermistors...
