Mine is doing the same exact thing. Just after I press "Start", the F1 starts beeping. Then at 23 minutes into the cycle, it does it again. So frustrating! What is wrong with this machine?
Here is a link to the service repair sheet at Whirpool for the F1 error code on your machine. You will find 4 things to check at the bottom of the page. Good luck.
F1 is a primary control failure and the part is about 150 bucks to replace. The part number is w10201186. It can be accessed by pulling the three screws from the back of the user console and pulling it forward reveals a gray box on the right side that is the problem. One 1/4 hex screw and plug and play.
jenkle, F then 1 flashes when there is a primary control failure. There is a couple of things you can try. 1. Unplug the machine for 2 minutes and see if the error returns. If it does, try activating the auto diagnostic mode. With the washer plugged in and all indicator lights off, select any key except power, start and stop. Here's what you do; press/hold for 3 seconds, release for 3 seconds, press/hold for 3 seconds, release for 3 seconds, press and hold for 3 seconds. If you did it right all indicators will light and 88 will appear in the display. If there are any faults, they will then display, look for a F-60 through 68. This will confirm the board is corrupt. If no faults are found the machine will go through a five minute automatic test cycle. To stop the test, just press stop/cancel. Check your owners manual and see how long the board is warranteed.
