Simpson 9.5kg eziset top load washing machine keeps switching off mid wash.

It turns on like normal and I can select the wash cycle,it fills with water but sometime during the cycle the machine loses power, and then the power comes back on, not straight away as I have turn off the power and turned it on again a nothing happens but after a couple of minutes it comes back on. This morning I tried the same wash cycle again but as the machine already had water inside, it didn't sense the water and kept filling with water, I stopped it and tried another wash cycle and it did sense the machine was full and didn't fill it with water and started to wash but again it switched off mid cycle again. Can anyone help?

SOURCE: kenmore top load (model # 110 82370120) drain problem

Good AM. I see here that you have a fairly old belt drive Kenmore washer. The real problem with these is that the parts for them are so very expensive anymore to get. A timer (which you may be needing) will run you around $100.00 to $175.00 depending on where you live. Very expensive repairs on these, but if you want to go for it, here are some hints to help. Sounds like you have one of three problems. First off PLEASE UNPLUG YOUR MACHINE BEFORE WORKING ON IT. Your timer may have lost or has a stuck contact inside (unrepairable in most cases) which is making it do something is shouldnt be doing in that area of the timer. This would probably be the most expensive of your repair. The next thing is it could be the water level switch could be going bad. This one is highly doubtful since it fills and stops filling, but I have heard (but never have seen) that they can short out sometimes and cause wacky operation. Both these issues can be fixed by remove the console rear panel and front knobs to remove both. The next item could be a defective wig-wag in the bottom of the unit. One of the positioning solinoids maybe going bad and sending bad signals back to the timer.

None of these problems are really hard to fix. And truthfully (even though some of these guys will be mad) you can sometimes find these parts on ebay for a halfway good price. Part numbers for each are:

Timer: 381860
Water Level Switch: 359712
Wig-Wag: 89814

Good luck with this one, and if you know how to use one, try to run resistance with an ohm-meter on your wig-wag to be sure your getting power flow through the soilnoids (you will have 2, be sure to unplug the solinoids before testing to be sure its a true test) before replacing.

SOURCE: Washing machine fills in the water but does not start the wash cycle

The fact that it does not fill completely can be related to a problem with the water-level switch, that regulates the water level.

See from Repairclinic:
"This switch is usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. If the switch is defective, it may prematurely signal the water to shut off. If so, you probably need to replace the water-level switch."

However, when it is only the switch the mashine usually completes the cycle, but with less water than normal.

A possibilty is that either the timer is faulty or there is a problem with the water supply.

Check that water is coming from water supply with regular pressure, and that hoses back there are not obstructed.

More likely you will have to replace the timer.

See again from Repairclinic:
"When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water."

  • You can find parts at the following websites, you need to input your model number. If the part is not listed contact them.

try replacing your water selenoid coming in. remember it isnt a mechanical timer it is a computerized timer, so if the selenoid isnt the problem, it might be the computerized timer. computers are very finicky, pain in the a- -!

there is a small hose from the bottom of the tub to the water level switch
that gets air pressure to activate a switch when the level selected overcomes the switch spring
At that point the water solenoid is turned off and the wash cycle begins
over flowing indicates that the level sensor is not working or the inlet solenoid and diaphragm is faulty
if it doesn't progress the wash cycle , that indicates a program board problem so call the technician for a proper diagnosis

Hi, my simpson eziset 950 when filling with water doesn't stop filling when the cycle starts. Water overflows all through the washing cycle. When I turn the tap of it stops filling.

there is a small tube running from the bottom of the tub up to a pressure switch in the control panel that is set by what ever wash level you want
when the pressure in that tube exceeds the pressure set by the knob it does 2 things
it turns off the inlet water solenoid to stop water coming in and then starts the wash cycle
as it is starting the wash cycle , it indicates that the stop solenoid for the water inlet is either still getting power or the stop valve is faulty
try replacing that water control valve first

Gday, ive got a simpson eziset 950 top load washing machine,it does the first wash sequence and pumps out,but the pump keeps pumping even though its empty and it wont go any further, wont re fill or spin,and...

This is a seriously wild stab in the dark at your problem. Washers usually have a totally jacked-up schematic somewhere in them. I never can figure them out.
But, I think your fill switch is stuck. The ones I've worked on use a type of pressure switch where water rises in a tube and makes the switch.
Find the switch and see what it is doing. The washer thinks water is still in the tub because the switch is telling it so.
    Clean the lint trap also.
Our KenMore washer also automatically selects warm and it ain't broke.
