I've replaced the cartridge and still get check cover/cartridge error message
Ignore it. Printer cartridge manufacturers and cartridge people post these message so they can con you into buying more cartridges. If it prints, just keep on going. If it doesn't print go to the printer manufacturer's site - it would help me if you had given details there - and see if there is a new driver. If so download it and install it on your computer. If not, uninstall the current driver COMPLETELY and then reinstall it. Files get corrupted for no good reason - that's the second choice.
The
problem could be due to a communication failure between one of the printheads
(cartridges) and the All-In One (AIO) or by a short in one if the printheads. Please follow the steps
below to identify and fix cartridge issues:
Just make sure you are using a genuine Lexmark cartridge and not some remanufactured, refilled or clone cartridges. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix cartridge
issues:
Hi Alan I think it is the cartridge that is causing your issue but I cant promise that it is.I can tell you from many years experience it very rarely is an issue with the printer breaking it is 99% of the time inferior consumables causing printers to fail, and sometimes wrecking printers so even when the customer does use good consumables it is too late and the damage is done, but we can't be sure of anything unless we start with basics and get 100% brand new Original Equipment Manufacturers carts (OEM) and stick them in. (no I don't work for Lexmark;)
1.
Make sure the printer is on.
2.
Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the
loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.
3.
Remove both cartridges from the carrier.
4.
Close the printer cover.
5.
Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power outlet to reset it.
6.
When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.
7.
Close the printer cover and check for any errors.
8.
If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.
9.
Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new
cartridge. You may also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the cartridge you are currently using is faulty.
