Ignore it. Printer cartridge manufacturers and cartridge people post these message so they can con you into buying more cartridges. If it prints, just keep on going. If it doesn't print go to the printer manufacturer's site - it would help me if you had given details there - and see if there is a new driver. If so download it and install it on your computer. If not, uninstall the current driver COMPLETELY and then reinstall it. Files get corrupted for no good reason - that's the second choice.

Cartridge error

The problem could be due to a communication failure between one of the printheads (cartridges) and the All-In One (AIO) or by a short in one if the printheads. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix cartridge issues:

1. Make sure the printer is on.
2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-In-One is busy. Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer or unplug the printer from the power source and then carefully slide the carrier to the center.
3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.
4. Close the printer cover.
5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in to, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.
7. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.
8. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new genuine cartridge. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Cartridge Error .... help!? I've read all the other replies and it's not helped!

Just make sure you are using a genuine Lexmark cartridge and not some remanufactured, refilled or clone cartridges. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix cartridge issues:

My Lexmark x8350 has suddenly come up with Cartridge Error, Error #1203. I've followed all the remove cartridge, power off, power on, reinstall steps, but no good. I think it's the colour...

Hi Alan I think it is the cartridge that is causing your issue but I cant promise that it is.I can tell you from many years experience it very rarely is an issue with the printer breaking it is 99% of the time inferior consumables causing printers to fail, and sometimes wrecking printers so even when the customer does use good consumables it is too late and the damage is done, but we can't be sure of anything unless we start with basics and get 100% brand new Original Equipment Manufacturers carts (OEM) and stick them in. (no I don't work for Lexmark;)

When i try to print on my Lexmark 2300 it keeps saying scanner unit is open, but it isn't. I've turned it off and on opened and closed the unit but this hasn't helped

It could be the cartridges in the carrier. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix the problem:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power outlet to reset it.

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.

8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.

9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge. You may also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if the cartridge you are currently using is faulty.

If the problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

I am trying to reset my toner. i am getting a toner replace message after i have replaced the cartridge with a brand new one from brother.i've tried opening the cover, hitting clear and then *00 and...

You dont say what model it is but in 90% of cases with the brother printer, it is the fault of the toner cartridge. I am presuming that the toner cartridge you put in was a generic brand. On the left hand side of the toner cartridge there is a counter reset lever that needs to be in the correct position to reset the printer. You can either return the toner cartridge and request another or try to reposition the lever & gearing by taking off the left cover.

I've got a epson r320 it's about 5yrs old it does not get used very much. Today I replaced couple ink cartridges, shut it off restarted it and the new cartridges is regestering as half full and even empty....

Q:

I replaced an ink cartridge and my printer still shows that ink is expended. What should I do?
A:

If you have just installed a new cartridge and you are still seeing an ink related error, the cartridge may be incorrectly installed. Follow these steps to reinstall the cartridge.

Make sure the printer is turned on, then open the printer cover.

Do one of the following:

If the red error light is on, press the Maintenance button.

If the red error light is flashing, press the Maintenance button. You see Ink Cartridge Replacement, highlighted in the Advanced Settings menu. Press OK.

You see a message on the LCD screen telling you that ink cartridge replacement will begin. Press OK to continue. The print head moves to the replacement position.

Open the cartridge cover.

Press in the tab on the back of the cartridge and lift the cartridge out of the printer.

Lower the cartridge back into the holder, with the green circuit board facing the front. Then gently push the cartridge down until it clicks into place.

Close the ink cartridge cover.

Press OK and close the printer cover.

The printer begins charging the ink delivery system.

When you see a message that charging is complete (after about a minute), press OK.
