I'm trying to print 11x17 from Illustrator and every time it would only print half of the 11x17. WHY? any help please?

You can only print borderless from Tray 1.

Try to print your file in jpeg or tiff format.Good luck!

you will need to check if your printer has a duplex printing capability. No use trying to print double sided if it can only do single sided printing.

Adobe Reader can be real pain it the... neck sometimes.
But first I would inspect not only the printer setup, but also printer's default print settings. Windows XP has 3 places, where you can see the printer options:
1. Printer properties
2. Print preferences
3. Default print setup.
The third one is the one you have to set. When you double click on your printer icon, a print queue window opens. Choose Printer->Properties, go to Advanced tab, and on the bottom there's a button "Default print setup" (I don't have English XP handy, so I'm translating back to English from my version - excuse me if they might appear a little different).
It's there you need to set up the default page size and so on.

If this still doesn't help, try opening Acrobat Reader, setting the Page Size Scaling to None, printing something and closing Acrobat Reader. From what I've seen, it tends to remember this setting from previous sessions.

You may also try alternative PDF readers, like Foxit Reader or PDF Xchange Reader.

The paper lift housing is cracked. The clicking noise is made by the lift gears skipping teeth.
It needs to be serviced...in the mean time, you might try feeding 11 x 17 paper through the manual feeder (bypass tray). Or if you need many 11 x 17 copies, it is possible to set another paper drawer to 11 x 17 size...just set the plastic tag in the front of cassette to LD so the machine knows what size of paper to expect (if tag is set incorrectly, machine will jam EVERY TIME)

I found an acceptable workaround. If I leave the paper size set to "defined by driver" in the Print dialog box and chose the paper size in the Page Set Up dialog box, that seems to do it. There were numerous complaints on the web about this and it seems to be a major glitch in CS3 with the Leopard OS.

hi jocelyn912 you have to adjust the paper size frome the printer propertise to fix the papesize to 11x17 ore to A3 size also tray to print via offica aplecations such as word . tray and let me know if the problem sold thanks.

In Print Settings make sure the original size is 8 1/2 by 11 and print out size is 11 x 17

I would go online and chat with HP tech support. I could not find any reference to this problem.

I can't tell you for sure which thing I tried and worked, but I noticed the USB cable looked slightly damaged, so I switched it out. But the thing that I actually think did it was that I was using the A3 size paper because there was no 11x17 paper size with the exception of a banner 11x17, which I didn't try becuase I wasn't creating a banner.
But none the less, that did it.
