SOURCE: FREEZER SOUNDS VERY NOISY

Fridge problem could be the fan is bad or that it is hitting ice. When the noise is kind of a buzzing like it is hitting ice...defrost your unit by unplugging and waiting a day or so for full melt out...then check your door gaskets for cleanliness and good seal.

Thanks.

SOURCE: loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

SOURCE: noise (more detail)

I think I answered this in an earlier post.

The noise is the fan banging against the motor housing. It's not a defective motor, it's a poorly designed motor.

The solution is to shim the motor mount so it is slightly out of level which will keep the fan from bouncing off the motor housing.

The reason Samsung won't service is they don't understand the problem. I've seen this a half-dozen times.

Trust me -- SHIM THE MOTOR MOUNT!

Check the diverted box in fresh food side. Some of them have an electric flapper that opens to let cold air in to maintain temp in fresh food side. If coils are not frozen up then that is the next thing I would look at. The flap might not be opening up,

It is making a buzzing noise on freezer side that stops when u open the door but starts again when u close it

On some models of refrigerators, the evaporator fan (behind an access panel at the top of the freezer) shuts off when the door is opened. This fan may be making the buzzing sound.

You should be able to check by pushing in the door switch while holding the door open. The fan should come on; and, if the buzzing resumes, you know what is making the noise. The fan may be developing a problem. If it stops running, the cold air will not be distributed properly between the freezer and refrigerator.

Freezer making a loud noise.

Sounds as if the evaporator fan has shaft play or the blades are out of balance or striking something. When you open the door the pressure is equal but with the door closed the fan needs to push the air through the evaporator and return again and circle through fan again. I think soon would be a good time to unplug the refrigerator and remove the back panel covering the evaporator and fan motor to inspect the fan, shaft play and the evaporator for frost buildup or any obstruction of air flow. Noise on the ice maker

I think you are having the same issue that I am having. My noise is being caused due to ice build up around the fan inside the freezer. There is a switch when you open the door that causes the fan to shut off, hence the reason the noise stops when you open the door.

I pulled the cover (just below the ice maker) and removed the ice that had built up. Only problem is that after three days the noise is back. I think there may be a bigger problem that is causing the ice to build up around the fan.
