The car radio code is indicated on many philips models on a small white sticker inside the glove box. The unlock code will be labeled "Anti-theft radio code".
Press ON and AS together...and leave SWITCHED ON..UNDISTURBED for as long as it takes to automatically reset itself.
This may take up to 11 hours as it depends on how many wrong codes have been entered previously (The waiting time doubles after each wrong code)
The two are not related. The wires for these aren't even close to each other by the radio. So you couldn't have damaged the gauge wire. I would check the engine coolant temperture sensor. If it is a three wire, the gauge part can go bad and not set a code.
