Question about Grundig Audio Players & Recorders

2 Answers

My Grundig Satellit 700 Radio is not working on FM Band but is working well on AM and Shortwave Band. After pressing ON/OFF button and FM/RDS-AF button when we try to operate the FM Band of this radio the FM Band sound comes i.e. radio is not totally dead on FM. But radio catches no station. When we do manual tuning by rotating the tuning knob clockwise or anti clockwise the display shows the change in frequency upper side or lower side according to the rotation of tuning knob but no station can be tuned. When we do direct tuning with Numeric Buttons no station can be tuned. When we try to tune a station in the FM Band with the Station Search Rocker Button the display shows auto search AS (Auto-Search), but no station can be tuned and the automatic station search never stops. Kindly guide me what can be the fault. Harpreet Singh India

I know this is an old question, but I just fixed an FM problem on my Satellit 700, and several other people I shared the fix with have confirmed that it worked on their radios as well. The FM IF transformer is on the lower left hand corner of the RF board, and is clearly labeled as "F1". This transformer is in a 7 mm "can", and can be replaced with any standard 7 mm 10.7 MHz adjustable transformer. One source for the part is Talon Electronics, part numer IND 2134.

Confirmed, this fix and Talon part number is correct.

As a side note, most AM/FM radios use a separate antenna for each band, thus why you can pick up AM but not FM. Check your mast antenna connections to make sure they are solid and not missing or loose.

The most common problem for no FM is the failure of component F1 IF transformer. One of the windings on the transformer opens, so you have either no input, or a very low level input to the FM mixer. You need to obtain a copy of the Satellit 700 service manual, and then find F1 in the schematics. You can check the windings with a simple ohm meter to verify if one of the windings is open or not.
If F1 is defective, and I have seen many 700's with this fault, you need to replace it with an adjustable 10.7 MHz IF Transformer in a 7mm can configuration.
I found a replacement 7 mm 10.7 MHz IF Transformer at Talon Electronics. Their part number for it is IND2134, and it costs a whopping $0.80. Here is a link:

SOURCE: Radio doesnt work

Make sure the headphones are connected, since they are the antenna. If you are in an indoor area, the potential for picking up stations is greatly reduced.

Go into the Settings menu of the Sansa, and change the region to "World" if you live outside the US, and change to "United States" if you live inside the US. Then, go back to the Radio mode and see if there is an icon that looks like a block (technically, a "Stop" sign) - if there is, press up on the clickwheel - it will get your radio off of pause mode. You radio should now work again.

SOURCE: play mp3 tunes on car radio???how do i tune in an

Most MP3 players don't actually broadcast FM. Sorry, but you didn't bother to specify make and model of your MP3 player, so I can't be any more specific than that.

Having said that, however, there are a number of products available which will plug into the earphone jack of your MP3 player and broadcast FM from that, so you can tune your car radio to pick that up. They usually have a (small) number of frequencies you can choose, then you simply tune your car radio to match.

Cannot select USB or SSB.Displays LSB or LISB? Very poor reception

On the Satellit 750 you have a button marked SSB. If you have selected a shortwave band then you can press the SSB button. Pressing the button repeatedly will toggle between LSB and USB.

You will need to know the exact frequency and the broadcast time, and the side band. Turn the radio on. Select a frequency which you know carries SSB signal and wait. Those that broadcast on SSB are not radio stations, maybe ham radio operators.

You can also select a short wave band, press the SSB button once or twice to select the side band and launch the automatic tuning system. It will scan the meter band and stop for a few second when it receives a strong enough signal. If you are able to perceive a clear signal on LSB or USB then you found a broadcaster. Some radios just have SSB and you cannot choose the side.
Personally, when I buy a radio I always insist on SSB but I have never been lucky tuning in an SSB signal. I keep trying once in while.

I just purchased the G6 Aviator. The FM band works well, but none of the AM or shortwave stations get reception. I have tried the antenna up and down, indoors and outdoors with no success.

It sounds like the whole am band is not working which includes the shortwave bands, there is no remedy to correct this and is clearly a manufacture defect. The best solution is return the radio because there is nothing more that can be done in it's present condition.

I just got grunding 800 radio,no reception either am,fm ,sw please help me.

This is valid for the Satellit 750 by Eton (current owner of Grundig)
When you use it the first time you go through a system code setting to fix the memory page configuration, the AM gap between stations, the type of batteries and FM frequency range.
If it is used in North Ameraica, you are told not to go through procedure but do it any way.
SYSTEM Code setting
Turn Radio off and press a quick short press on the ENTER Button. -- appears on the upper right corner of the display
1. The first code could be 00, 20,25 or 50, meaning the memory is divided into 10, 20, 25, or 50 pages.
2. The second code fixes the AM frequency gap between stations. Enter 09 for 9kHz or 10 for 10 kHz (in North America)
The 3rd code selects the type of batteries used 29 for D size batteries (1.5V each) or 28 for rechargeable batteries (1.2 V each)

The 4th code concerns the FM frequency range: 76 for a range 76-108 MHz (for Japan) or 87 for a range 87-108 MHz

Read your manual to see how the procedure is performed, or try this one valid for the Satellit 750. It might work. Go through all the procedure and press ENTER to confirm system code.

If the radio uses memory batteries, try changing these with new alkalines. The microprocessor needs this power to drive the display.

Grundig Satellit 700 World Receiver. AM bands are dead.

Ist Local Oscillator (PLL) stops working. It's desiged with bare minimum feedback to keep it's output reasonably clean. Removing (De-soldering) the screening box reduces losses, but it's still marginal. Something in the osc. circuit is temperature sensitive, so squirting it with freezer spray - or putting the set in the 'frig will get it going again. Have one like this, "Repaired" - been going for about 5 years and just quit again! If I get any better luck next time, I'll re-post this!
