Hard Drive not detected

Hi. I've had this 160 FreeCom Hard Drive for just over a year and now, having finally bought a new laptop, it won't detect it. The blue light comes on but it doesn't make any sound - neither the computer nor hard drive and it is not being detected in 'My Computer' or the storage section of the Computer admin/system tools etc. The new computer is a far higher powered and higher spec than my old Packard Bell which so I'm sure it's not a lack of USB Drive power.

Please help - this is the only thing that a hard drive is supposed to do!

If you are sure that the disk is okay, then I do suspect it is a power problem. Laptop USB ports often can not provide as much power as desktop USB ports. If possible try using an external power adapter with the disk and see if that works.
You can try some other external hard disk troubleshooting ideas, but probably it is the power.

Hard drive failed could it be loose

Do the system detect your hard drive? If detects, try to get it partitioned. If you can, you won.

Hi i m hems i m upgrading hard disk on my ( acer aspire 1641nwlmi ) laptop hard disk is 160 gb but it's not detecting my new hard disk , my new hard is ok but i have quistion 160 gb is supporting my laptop...

The Aspire 1641 is supplied with a 80Gb hard drive. If the new 160Gb hard drive is not detected in the BIOS then the BIOS cannot support this size hard drive.
Check your manual/specification to see the maximum size hard drive it can support.
You can install the 160Gb hard drive in an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an external USB hard drive.

New 160 gig hard drive, can't load XP on Fujitsu S6210

Insert the new hard drive in your laptop, boot up and go into the BIOS.
Check if the hard disk setting is set to Auto (detect). Check the system configuration and see if it detects the hard disk.
If there is a hard disk diagnostic utility within the BIOS, run it to check the hard disk.
You can also test the hard disk by booting up with a boot floppy disk, run fdisk.exe to see if can display, create a partition, and format the hard drive etc.

If not of this works then it is highly possible that you have a faulty disk controller in your laptop.

Freecom 250 Gb Hard Drive

Hi des,
you need to install windows XP, on a different hard-drive.
even if it,s only 10 gig plus.
You can then access the drive.
Your problem is here, is that you,ve upgraded from XP to Vista, theres a possibility, that you may have lost or even formatted your freecom hard-drive.
No-Support-Device detected, is saying that your USB devices are not functioning correctly.
Check in the bios that the USB devices are enabled, to operate your hard-drive. ( this is assuming it,s a USB drive )

Hope this helps you out.
