I'va had my laptop for about 2 years now, and since i can remember, the battery never lasted that long, at least not as long as other laptops, even some from the same model, but in the last six months, its lasted less and less every time, from 1 hour about six months ago to 15 minutes just now, i have to have it connected all the time if im to work on it
Generally laptop batteries (Lithium-Ion) come in standard 6-cell and 12-cell configurations, lasting about 1.5 to 2 years before they begin to degrade in their charge capacity.
HP has issued 3 recalls in the last two years regarding laptop batteries, and you can check to see if your laptop qualifies for their replacement program under the recall at: http://bpr.hpordercenter.com/hbpr/
You can also shop Nextag for laptop batteries that are compatible with the dv600z, here are some search results: http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=laptop+battery+for+hp+dv6000z&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=EqgtSuvxF4_SNOvR7PcJ&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title
Lastly, if you purchased the laptop at Best Buy for instance, and you purchased the GSBTP (geek squad black tie protection) which is just their in-store warranty, they all come with a free battery replacement for the term of the warranty.

Usually, when a battery doesnt detect its either a defective battery, or the battery is just no good. Consider replacing the battery. That would be the only solution for fixing that. batteries are not made to last long on a laptop 1-2 years the most if lucky getting that. if you leave the laptop plugged in all the time you have to remember that it is charging all the time, if you feel the laptop getting hot, then the damage is done. good Luck and try to find an OEM or something similiar Steer away from knock-off's
Although I usually offer advice on backing up files or recovering them, I have been asked a lot lately how my 3 year old laptop still runs 1:45mins on a standard battery when many peoples 1-2 year old laptops can barely last an hour.
Simply put, most people do one of two things wrong. Both are common misconceptions and easy to remedy. First I've heard countless people tell me they pop the battery out of their laptop and toss it in the desk drawer until needed, often months. Second I have been told by more people than I can count that they leave their laptop plugged in 24/7 for most of the year.
Bottom line, although popping it out and leaving it in the drawer is less harmful to it's lifespan, both ideas are wrong.
The shelf life of most unused lithium batteries is shorter when unused than ones being used properly. The lifespan of a battery that is constantly being trickle charged is even shorter.
Most batteries in modern laptops are 4-6 cells, designed to give about 2 hours of charge and should last 3-5 years with charge life starting to degrade in the third year.
A "stored battery" has only 3 years of shelf life due to extended times sitting discharged and one that is trickle charged 24/7 may burn out in as little as a year.
Many laptop manufacturers have taken measures to improve this but ultimately the best thing for your battery is to use it. If you currently run you laptop plugged in 24/7, unplug it every night after you shut it off, then when you start it in the morning, let it run an hour before plugging it back in. This will give the battery both down time and exercise.
If your battery is in a drawer somewhere for safe keeping, put it back in the laptop, run it down then charge it over night and run it down then recharge it one more time. Store it back in the drawer charged and repeat the cycle at least once a month.
These tips will help drastically improve you batteries performance over time. My 3 year old laptop only ever got 2 hours of battery life and still gets 1:45 with no power saving measures, give it a try.
Hello,
The average life time of laptops batteries are usually 2-3 years, a good one before they start failing, they will not be able to last the number of hours they do last before, including your sony VAIO, but i must let you know also that the number of the lithium ion cells the battery is made of matters, for example a 6-1on cell, last more than 3, a 12-ion cell last more than 6
However you can get a replacement battery from any good computer stores nearest to your home.
Or you can also order it online or if you have any sony stores around you, you can get it from there.
But you can consider getting it online from reputable computer stores online.
Regards
Those batteries are Ni-cads or the like, they ONLY have 1.2 Volts, this camera should ONLY be used with "Normal"? batteries, of 1.5 Volts. It is all a function of VA/T Volts x Amps, over Time, and a 1.2 @ 2.7Amps = 3.24VA, now, even at same current 1.5 @ 2.7 Amps = 4.05.VA You see, the other first one does not have enough energy to last. It is that simple.
If you blistered your older batteries a good chance your inverter is going or will go bad. The heat alone can do damage to your components. Time to replace the unit and remember next time not to wait so long to replace your batteries. Replacement of batteries every three to approaching four years is a good idea.
A good way to shop for a longer lasting battery is to pay attention to how high the mah value is. The voltage is how much power the battery actually puts out at once, but the mah determines how much storage the cells have. So if you see one battery that's 1300mah and another that's 2200mah, the 2200 will most certainly stay live for longer.
Batteries last about a year depending on if you let it fully discharge before recharge the very 1st time you use it. the real average is to expect about 6 months usage before it degrades. by one year you'll be lucky if it gives you 30min charge.
Hi,
For acer 9410 you have 2 options for battery. an 8 cell battery which normally would last for 3.5 hrs. or a 6 cell battery that lasts for 2 hours. but that would depend on the application that you are using. for example, the battery will last longer if .you are just using it for email or chat compared to watching video. Why is that? its because watching video and playing games requires heavy processing thus consuming more battery. we should also remember that rechargeabu le batteries are consumable parts. it runs out in time. it is normal for it to degrade after a year. if it has'nt been a year since you purchased this computer then call acer and ask for a replacement battery. hope this helps?
thanks.
