I have the Dell 720 printer, and all of a sudden, it won't print any black! When I print the test page in color, the colors are predominantly red for some reason, and when I print the test page in black and white, there's a blank page even though the ribbon and cartridges move as they normally should. (My ink levels are fine and I have even switched cartridges.)
Same problem as above. No black ink comes out and the blue is very faded. Have tried with various new ink cartridges I have bought and I get the same problem. My Dell 720 printer will not print any text in black.
I have done test pages and cleaned the printer plus cleaned the black cartirdge. Still will not print in black.My Dell 720 printer will not print any text in black.

Black print started to fade. Cartridge status showed black was 50% filled.
Black continued to fade until it disapeared. Tried all fixes offered on computer... nothing works. Took cartridge out and blew in vent hole.. ink appeared at dispensing point. Put cartridge back in printer and tried again.
Got color print but not a sign of black. With so many having the same problem, sounds like a Dell 720 printer problem.

I had same problem after refilling a cartridge, tried wiping head with damp cloth...kinda worked. I finally put my mouth over the refill hole and blew gently into it to create some pressure to unclog the cartridge. This worked very well for about a week. Then the problem recurred and I haven't had any luck getting black to print either.

You need to clarify :
1. Your printer cannot print color even though it prints color well from a test page;
2. Your printer cannot print color in a test print page.
If it is the first one, then you have to set it properly in Window Print Configuration page of that printer;
If it is the second one, then you have to check whether you have installed the color ink cartridge properly in the printer. If the color ink cartridge is installed properly, try to replace another new color ink cartridge. Finally it is still not work, then you have to bring back to the repair center.
This has to do with the document printing properties. When you are ready to print a document, choose properties and make sure you go through the printer settings under that software. The test page only verifies the cartridges. The printer properties of the software control the printer during printing.
