The ice maker itself seems to be working on this Whirpool Imperial refrigerator. The ice maker makes the cubes and dumps the cubes into the depository. The refrigerator is designed to allow you to get crushed or cube ice and water from refrigerator door, without opening the freezer.
Several months ago, the place where the ice drops into the door slot started to freeze over. If I pressed the door lever with a glass, no crushed or cubed ice could fall. If I unthaw the area, ice drops freely for about and hour. Then, the area freezes over again. I scrape or thaw the area practically daily, even though I no longer use the door and reach into the depository to get ice. What is making the spot freeze over where the ice drops into the door.
The water is fine. I can still press the lever and get cold water.
