A Tech says that the fan to blow air to freeze the ice has a short. the ice maker is not cold enough to make cubes. I have replaced ice maker, water inlet valve and had a tech out to check the board. He say's a wire has a short going to the fan.

There should be a tube that brings water to your icemaker from the back of the fridge into the icemaker. This tube is frozen with water, or the inlet where this tube feed the icemaker tray is frozen. The result is that water cannot go to the ice maker, and instead, goes over the top of the inlet area.
Verify that this is indeed what is going on.
The fix is to remove the blockage/buildup of ice at the inlet. You may have to detach the icemaker to get to it. Be carefull with electricity! Also be carefull as plastic can break under stress!
The tube may be frozen to the inlet, channel locks can be used to gently twist the tube to break it free.
Good Luck!
SOURCE: ice cube tray not releasing cubes
The ice maker system is pretty simple.. A motor rotates with a gear reduction system and as it rotates... a switch is tripped when the motor reaches a certain point on its rotation... that switch lets water in for a prescribed period of time ( normally that is adjustable) and then as the motor rotates some more.. the ice tray has had adequate time for that ice to freeze and is positioned for it to be released,..at that time.. a small heating element is energized to release those ice cubes and the cubes fall from the tray into the bucket.. Chances are your heater is not working, unplugged or defective.. I would start by thawing everything out and getting the system free of any and all ice.. If after you've cleaned it all up.. and it still fails to release ice..you could be over-filling your tray and that freezes .. which in turn causes the system to fail too..You may need to adjust the fill level by throttle back on the water or if your system has a fill level control.. adjust that.. but first things first.. get the system back to a known good state.. ( meaning free from all ice ) so that you can monitor its performance,. Hope that helps...

I had this problem. The root cause was that mineral deposits had built up in the ice cube tray. The ice would not "dump"... but stayed in the tray after the dump cycle. I did not catch it quickly and eventually the plastic frame broke. That was easily replaced. Inspect the ice tray to see that all cube surfaces are smooth. If there are mineral deposits, they need to be removed. Do NOT scrub with anything abraisive or you will ruin the tray. As you are looking straight on at the Ice maker, with the bin out, depress the small black retangular tab. The tray assembly will come apart to remove the tray. Rinse the tray, then fill with warm vinegar. Let it soak. You may scrub with soft cloth, finger or fingernail to remove deposits. Replace the tray and you should be in business.
