SOURCE: Ice accumulating in freezer

There should be a tube that brings water to your icemaker from the back of the fridge into the icemaker. This tube is frozen with water, or the inlet where this tube feed the icemaker tray is frozen. The result is that water cannot go to the ice maker, and instead, goes over the top of the inlet area.

Verify that this is indeed what is going on.

The fix is to remove the blockage/buildup of ice at the inlet. You may have to detach the icemaker to get to it. Be carefull with electricity! Also be carefull as plastic can break under stress!
The tube may be frozen to the inlet, channel locks can be used to gently twist the tube to break it free.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: ice cube tray not releasing cubes

The ice maker system is pretty simple.. A motor rotates with a gear reduction system and as it rotates... a switch is tripped when the motor reaches a certain point on its rotation... that switch lets water in for a prescribed period of time ( normally that is adjustable) and then as the motor rotates some more.. the ice tray has had adequate time for that ice to freeze and is positioned for it to be released,..at that time.. a small heating element is energized to release those ice cubes and the cubes fall from the tray into the bucket.. Chances are your heater is not working, unplugged or defective.. I would start by thawing everything out and getting the system free of any and all ice.. If after you've cleaned it all up.. and it still fails to release ice..you could be over-filling your tray and that freezes .. which in turn causes the system to fail too..You may need to adjust the fill level by throttle back on the water or if your system has a fill level control.. adjust that.. but first things first.. get the system back to a known good state.. ( meaning free from all ice ) so that you can monitor its performance,. Hope that helps...

SOURCE: Ice cube dispenser not working

I had this problem. The root cause was that mineral deposits had built up in the ice cube tray. The ice would not "dump"... but stayed in the tray after the dump cycle. I did not catch it quickly and eventually the plastic frame broke. That was easily replaced. Inspect the ice tray to see that all cube surfaces are smooth. If there are mineral deposits, they need to be removed. Do NOT scrub with anything abraisive or you will ruin the tray. As you are looking straight on at the Ice maker, with the bin out, depress the small black retangular tab. The tray assembly will come apart to remove the tray. Rinse the tray, then fill with warm vinegar. Let it soak. You may scrub with soft cloth, finger or fingernail to remove deposits. Replace the tray and you should be in business.

Fix error code if on LG fridge LFX31925, tried unplugging (maybe not long enough?), where is ice maker fan? and how do i replace it?

Hello Mike;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.
I was hoping LG would stop manufacturing this type of design.
You need to stay away from bottom freezers, especially those manufactured by both LG & Samsung. Cosmetically they look nice. They are high maintenance and high failure.
You are probably good with tools and quite handy. But, what you are asking is a nightmare.
Here is the design flaw; there is a separate fan for the ice maker in your fresh food section door. Ice makers belong in the freezer. There are air ports that go to the enclosed housing on your door. This is where a separate fan in your freezer blows cooling air. When you open the fresh food section of your unit and close the door, you are forcing warm air down through these cooling ports into the ice maker fan. The fan builds up condensate and freezes.
The ice maker fan is located in the back of your freeze wall on the left hand side. You can not see it. There is a square mold that has 3 screws. The fan is behind this.
To access the fan, which normally does not need to be replaced; remove the bottom freezer door. The are two screws on outside of the rail system near the door. They are holding the door into slots. Remove the screws. Lift up pulling the door out of the slots. Set the door aside. In the back on the right hand side there is a small cover plate. On the back of the cover plate is your temperature sensor. Remover the cover plate 1 screw. Pop off the cover plate. Remove the sensor and attach a string to it for later recovery. This lead is short and after removing the back cover off you will need to recover it. You will not after unscrewing the retainer screws on the back cover to fully pull it off. The ice maker fan has short leads. You will need to struggle, after removing the 3 retaining screw on the cover plate, reaching behind to pull the fan out to disconnect the connector. The connector on this fan is very short.
Lets do it the easy way, chances are the fan motor is good. Using a hair dryer blow warm air down the ports from the port feeding the ice maker cooling air. Use the hair dryer on the freezer left hand wall. Better yet, unplug your unit for 24 hours.
Next time do not purchase a bottom freezer, Amada & Kitchen Aid are low maintenance. Kenmore & GE make some nice units if you get the right model.

Samusung RFG297HDRS Ice maker not cold enough to produce ice.

Suspect that the rubber boot that runs all around the edge of your freezer door is deformed, allowing warm air to seep into your freezer. You will see where your temp sensor is located by clicking into the site of a parts supplier like ShopJimmy.com and pulling up their photo of the guts of your unit.

Samsung rs2630sh not cooling or freezing

If it has fan to deliver cold air, and it is not working, cold air is stuck on the begining. So your fan could be dead. And I suppose, that compressor is running all the time. Even compressor could stert freezing if fan does not deliver cold air in fridge. The other option is, that there is not enough gas in the compressor. In this case compressor vould not be freezing, but line, going out of compressor has to be hot, if it is not, there is no gas.

I have a Samsung RF268ABRS Unit all food in bottom freezer thawed. Unit is running and ref is cool. I notice that the fan dosent seem to blow. Closed freezer up and its cold, but no air moving. How do...

I had a similar problem. my samsung freezer would only cool to 20 degrees, which also resulted in the freezer ice maker not functioning. (fridge door ice maker still worked) If you hold the power freeze and power cool buttons down together for 8 seconds it will a diagnostic. found the answers on http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?topic=8206.0 , as too what the codes meant. Mine was throwing a freezer fan code error. ordered one online $30 and replaced it. seems to be working. TIP -The fan is located behing the rear panel in the freezer. I had two fans. The regular looking one is the freezer fan, the squirrel cage fan feeds the fridge ice maker. Also the new fan motors don't come with blades, just pull the blades off the old one and put it on the new motor. Don't push it on too far, make sure there is enough clearance so it spins freely.

Freezer and ice maker quit working / The temp.display on the door is just flashing .

There may be a fan that moves cold air in the freezer and icemaker compartment(s).  If the fan freezes up the cold air will not circulate.  Since the fridge compartment is still cold it does not sound like a compressor problem.
