Problem with my handycam

I am not able to access the touchscreen facility of my SONY HC42E...... now i can't switch to USB connection for getting my videos on my desktop. plz help me!

    I WANT to creat cd from the casset recorded .i have installed the cd supplied with handycam .i have connected the cord from handycam to pc .picture packed vcd maker started .it shows video camera is connected in usb mode.i dont have manual.now what to do?

DCR HC42E (MiniDV), LCD backlight is not working, where as touchscreen functioning properly, viewfinder is also working good
There is strip flexible cord that connects the LCD panel which moves along with the hinges and it is possible that the strip has failed. So please check the continuity of the cord to confirm. It is possible only the first few tracks are damaged as the touchscreen works.
The strip can be sourced from Sony but take consensus before you remove and take out the strip.

Click download (middle of page) . Run this driver . After that connect your handycam. Now your pc will recognize your handycam and be ready to use.

Cable not connecting
go to my computer > click on hardware tab >
click on device manager button > in the is next screen on the bottom should have>>universal serial bus controllers
(write these down just in case it cant find them)
right click on them and uninstall
reboot let windows reinstall them
Also told Microsoft hotfix causes this problem try uninstalling the last hotfix
If that doesn't fix it try the USB cable
