I have a Carrier Weathermaker 8000VS with a programmable thermostat that is displaying an E5 code and no A/C. The fan can be turned on, but the outdoor unit is always off. This is the third time for this problem, and occurs when I switch from heat to A/C, A/C to heat (change of seaons). The service tech can never seem to figure-out what is wrong. The thermostat has been replaced, connections have been checked, etc., yet here I am again with the same issue. Note that when the E5 code is displaying (flashing between E5 and the Temp setting) the room temp display varies between 2 or 3 degrees. What does the E5 code mean? What should the service tech be doing to identify the root cause?
Any advise/direction would be most appreciated!
I "rebooted" the thermidistat by opening it up to disconnect it from it's power supply, waited 30 sec, and closed it up again. After a few seconds E5 went away and the indoor temp appeared. The A/C started up after about 5 minutes. It seems to be working normally.
Ok what you need to do is call your local service company and have a technician come out and check your Thermostat, its currently not able to read humidity probably due to a power surge
