EEE display code error on CT3600 Honeywell

What does the EEE display code error on CT3600 Honeywell programmable thermostat mean and how do I fix it? When I went to switch from cool to heat the display flashed low battery and then went out. I replaced the batteries but don't know what's causing the EEE code the display is showing. Please advise and thanks!

I am a honeywell dealer and this stat is obsolete and no longer supported. I am not able to pull any info on this. It might be time for a new one.

Honeywell CT3600 does not turn off heat
Its hard to say where its getting power from. It should be a normally closed two wire valve, so power must be fed from the tstat only? Not real sure how it's wired. You could try a round of MUSICAL THERMOSTATS? That would answer your question as long as its played properly.

EEE error message
I just talked to Honeywell support - they claim that an eee error means there has been a "unique error" and that the unit will need to be replaced - cannot be fixed. They were pretty good about giving a suggestion for a new thermostat and wiring directions if you want to DIY. Otherwise, call a pro.
