You have USB 2.0 ports on the PC and the printer supports connection via USB, you you are set there. Since your new computer's base configuration has 6GB of RAM, I am assuming that the 64-bit version of Vista was installed. The drivers for the printer are part of the standard Vista driver package, so all you should need to do is power on the printer and connect the USB cable between the devices. Vista should see the new device and automatically install the proper drivers for its operation (may take a minute or two to complete the process).

Yes. It should work fine, but there are a few IFs:

IF the printer is still good...you said it's an older printer. Also, does the printer have a USB port, or is it so old, it only has a parallel port? Some newer computers do not have serial or parallel ports.

IF you don't have a parallel port on the PC, and you have no USB port on the printer, you can purchase a parallel to USB adapter.

You also may have to go the manufacturer's web site to download the drivers for the printer.

IF there are no printer drivers for your newer Operating System, you are up the proverbial ******* creek. I have a hunch you are concerned about how to hook it up because of the above mentioned parallel - USB port issue. The adapter will fix that.

Good Luck!

My computer is newer than the printer I just added, it says that the usb printing support won't work properly with the usb3.0 version, I have an old lexmark z611 printer

usb 3 will work a usb 2 system but nor the other way around
try going to the printer web page ' find your printer model and download the driver suitable for your computer operating system
it is possible that the new pc will not have the driver for the older printer I suspect that on the new pc you have win 10 and the driver for the old printer will be on win xp or win 7

What driver is required for Lexmark Z615 printer to work in Windows 7 ?

I can't seem to find any Windows 7 specific drivers for the Z615 online sadly. Lexmark are not particularly great in supporting older printers with new operating systems.

Assuming you have already tried connecting the printer to your PC and the built in printer drivers have not worked, I would run Windows Live Updates in the hope something there will cover it.

Can't upload photos from Lumix DMC-tz5 to PC. Used to just insert card in printer but got a new printer and it doesn't work with Windows XP. Tried a card reader and no good either. Ordered a USB...

Anything you try has to be compatible with Windows XP. Whenever Microsoft come out with a new operating system (example Win 10) they suspend support for an older OS. (example Win XP, and Vista) This lets all manufacturers know that their new products and accessories no longer have to be compatible with the older OS, but need to be compatible with the new one. Therefore, your card reader has to be XP compatible as well. Hope this helped.

I just upgraded my computor windows 7. And it deleted my epson 1280 printer. How do get it back. [email protected]

Some older printers don't have a driver (software that tells the PC how to work the printer) for Windows 7. This website is Epson's Support site, and lists a driver that it says is "compatible" with windows vista.

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?cookies=no&oid=14387&infoType=Downloads

sometimes Vista drivers will work with Windows 7, but not always. Choose either the 32-bit driver for Vista, or the 64-bit driver for vista, depending on which edition of Windows 7 you are using.

If that doesn't work, then you unfortunately either need a new printer, or you need to hook that printer up to a computer that is running Windows vista or older.

Laserjet 1160 taking 1 min to output every sheet. Worked find on older PC. Have 2 of these, exactly same problem with both. Uninstalled, latest driver downloaded, re-imaged PC all to no avail.

Your printer is taking longer to spool the information because you have an older printer with a newer computer. Older technology does work slower when put with the newer computers. You can try upgrading the memory on your printer if it has this capability to do so.

I have purchased a new computer with Vista Home Premium. It will not activate my disc for installing the X1195 printer I am trying to connect. It works happily on the older one.

i had the same problem on my laptop only with a dell printer. the printer worked great with my older computer that had windows xp. it could be the drivers for the printer are not compatiable with vista. try to find new drivers on the manufacturers website, thats what i would do.

so just go to the website of the printers manufacturers and look up ur model number and then try to find drivers for it.

LEXMARK X1180 ALL INONE PRINTER SCANER

Your best bet would be to visit Lexmark's website to see if your printer is compatible with Vista. You may be able to download updated drivers for your printer, or they may be able to suggest alternate drivers which may allow you to use your printer with Vista.

Canon s520

Hello, try downloading a current working driver at the canon website (google canon, it will take you to the site list, go to drivers, type in your model and download to pc. Save new driver n disk in case of needing a reinstall later. Make sure you uninstall all drivers for the printer first then install new one. Good luck.
