When your dell e173fp lcd monitor black out, the led power light are still green color. Normally, this will be the inverter board or ccfl lamp problem. May i know, after this monitor black out, do you have try use the torch light to see any display on the screen? (sometime the display are darkness only and not totally no display, you need see it clearly). Any details on repair lcd monitor please goto this website, http://www.fastrepairguide.com

The most common problem that causes the screen to go to a black screen is due to bad capacitors in the screen's power supply board. The bad caps are the cylindrical and will appear to have bulging tops.
perrycdoq, Did you do flashlight test? Is your monitor also "blank"? Did you visit this old net blog? http:///www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution/ Do some reading there then come back and tell me if you think same thing might be wrong with your unit. Will you do the troubleshooting or contract out the work to qualified electronics technician to fix units "switch-mode-power-supply / inverter ballast circuit? 12fixlouie
rwhite97, If your pc is working fine with substitute monitor, and w1907 lcd unit does same (black screen, or blanknblack screen) when connected to a "known good" pc, then you should visit and read some stuff at this 2005 blog. http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution/ Then learn the flashlight test and what it means. Then go to YOUTUBE for video clips on lcd monitor disassembly and lcd monitor repair if you are into do-it-yourself repair. Remember this!!! Your w1907 unit uses the same basic design and operation principles that ALL brands of ccfl back-lit lcd monitors use. Good luck with the repair. Come back here and leave comment after doing your research/investigation and then rate this response. 12fixlouie
The problem may not be the monitor. Acer AL1714 is known for its weak power supply unit. Unplug power supply from monitor. If the green light on monitor comes on but goes out quickly, the power supply is the culprit!
