Make sure it looks like this before installing. The gears have a habit of falling out of place while installing.

I have 20 IBM 9068 at work and some of those problems I had also. The noice can come from Ribbon drive assembly. This part has plastic weels inside and tooth on it is droken. You have to open printer and check that part. If you need more info you can e-mail me at [email protected]

How to reset passbook printer ibm 9068

When you turn on the power, the microcode version and then the release level of the microcode are presented on the LED display, and the device runs the basic assurance test and then resets the hardware.
If you need configuration changes done such as how the printer communicates and such, then you need to know all the functions and codes for configuration changes.
The self-test runs only in the self-test state. To place the printer in this state and start the self test:
1. Make sure the printer is turned off.
2. Press and hold either Start 1 or Start 2 on the operator panel; then turn on the printer. Keep holding the button at least until "00" is displayed on the LED.
Note: The left 0 blinks, and the right 0 stays on.
3. When 00 appears on the LED, the self-test "00" is ready to run. Insert an 8.5x11 Letter sized piece of paper into printer.
4. Press Start 2 to run the self-test "00". This will print the Configuration of your printer.

Have 2 IBM 9068-A01 Dot Matrix Passbook Printer. Both are showing Errors. There is no paper-jam and I have installed 4 different Ribbons, still no joy. First Error code is 0F and the second Error code is...

The cover is not shut all the way or the magnet is not making the connection between the cover and the chassis. A1 is a microcode checksum error. don't know what that means.

Two separate problems: Paper loads crooked and then jams printer. Unrelated issue is "no paper loaded" error message even when paper is loaded...Help!

You might had a bit of paper stuck in there. Look real close where the rollers are and see if there is maybe a address label or piece of paper in the path of the paper.
