Was on laptop during instant messager and it froze. Turned off laptop, turned laptop back on and went to black screen asking for password. Never had password on my laptop before.

Some Toshiba bios passwords can be reset using the Key Disk.exe utility, to
do this you need a 1.44Mb floppy disk.
Format the disk to be BOOTABLE using Windows and then
with a hex editor, change the first five bytes of the second sector to 4B 45 59
00 00.
Then put the floppy into your machine and boot it up, you’ll be asked for a
password, just press Enter. Then when you’re asked to set the password, type Y
then Enter, this will get you into the bios configuration where you can then
type in a new password.
