Locked out of Toshiba laptop, Help!

Was on laptop during instant messager and it froze. Turned off laptop, turned laptop back on and went to black screen asking for password. Never had password on my laptop before.

Format the disk to be BOOTABLE using Windows and then with a hex editor, change the first five bytes of the second sector to 4B 45 59 00 00.
Then put the floppy into your machine and boot it up, you’ll be asked for a password, just press Enter. Then when you’re asked to set the password, type Y then Enter, this will get you into the bios configuration where you can then type in a new password.

sounds like an irq conflict after trying to install projector. you will have to boot into safemode and go grom there. dont know what op system your using . windows used to be f8 on start up but thats changed now too.

Try to download and install newest windows drivers for the wireless and check BIOS for wireless settings. Apart from that... stick to Linux? ; )

You have may have either a battery or electrical issue with the laptop. If it's under warranty, take it in.

Otherwise, it is a pretty expensive fix (At least 100 dollars).

try reseating the memory. in the process use a pencil eraser to clean contacts and see if it works.

Is their a possibility of an overheat with your laptop? i mean, during the time that the laptop froze up, did you notice that the laptop is exceptionally hot?
