I had the same problem with a number of the radios we have here. The trouble was the volume control pots had broken loose from the circuit boards. Some I was able to repair by resoldering and some needed new pots. We got parts from a local Motorola distributor.

Uniden bcd396xt scanning but no sound coming from scanner

BCD386XT No sound. If it is actually stopping on an active broadcast and if you have the volume turned up (press down on volume button and release, then rotate to adjust) then the most likely cause is a failed speaker. Try a set of headphones in the jack on top by the antenna, if you have sound there it is most certainly a bad speaker. It is a very tiny speaker that is as thin as a nickel, many have been broken by a simple jar or by being played too loud by the hearing impaired. It is not hard to change but basic soldering skills are required. the speaker is available from uniden parts.

How can i turn down my talk back its too loud

If it was an aftermarket install there may not have been a volume control put on it. Some times not even an on-off switch. To ad a volume control locate the jumper between the External and PA speaker. You can get a volume control at Radio Shack. Locate an area inside the rear panel that will allow the installing of the volume control. Cut the jumper wire and slide shrink tube on wires. Solder a length of wire on each end and solder the other ends to the volume control. You can use bell wire for this purpose or get wire at Radio Shack.

Wake up with the radio is always set to level 19... I would like to set my radio alarm with a lower volume... my centrios is a Speed to Sound CENTRIOS IPOD/IPHONE CLOCK RADIO I will return this

We also have this problem. Found this info in the product's Q&A on the website: http://answers.thesource.ca/answers/9026/product/1218694/centrios-centrios-ipod-iphone-clock-radio-white-questions-answers/questions.htm

"Ok. there is a way that you can LOWER the wakeup radio volume. turn on the radio (forget about the alarm right now) and go to the station that you want. when you get to the station, you should be able to press the 'skip/fast forward' button on the remote. when you do this, number 5 should show up beside the station #. When you do this, it lowers the overall volume of every volume level, so now level 19 is equal to volume level 9/10, which for me is loud enough to wake me, but not give me a heart attack! so, now when the alarm goes of, the volume is a lot lower. BUT if you want to wake up to your ipod, this method will NOT work, it will still be up at level 19. so when you turn on your ipod, it will be really LOUD. again, this only works with the radio."

Also if you are waking to ipod and not radio this was in the reviews:
"Fooled with it for a bit and discovered that you have to turn down the volume of the iPod first before putting it on the dock. We've tried it a few times just to make sure and it worked every time!!"

Still not a perfect solution, but a great improvement. Hope this helps someone.

I have a Connex 4600 Turbo mounted in the headliner of a W900L Kenworth using Wilson 2000 twin antennas and a RK56 mic. When trying to use the "talk-back" feature all I hear is constant...

Strange. You shouldn't have a squealing problem with an RK56 noise canceling mic.

Unfortunately there is no way to change the volume of the talkback. Its too loud. The only solution is to turn the mic gain down.

The only reason you need to have talkback on is to check your audio. Make sure the echo is good and what not. After that you really don't need it on. So turn down the mic gain, then check the echo, then turn off the Talkback and turn the gain back up.

The squeal is feedback from the talkback being to loud and being heard by the mic. So the only way to solve it is to lower the volume of the talkback, (Which is not possible in this radio) lowering the mic gain(which lowers your audio level) or turning it off.

HAVE A KENWOOD AMP MODEL KAC-9102D . iT KEEPS SHUTTING OFF WHEN i TURN THE RADIO LOUD. ANY SUGGESTIONS

either bad ohm load or over heat if the ohs on the speaker wires to the amp are lower than specified use in the manual it will act funny cause it is pusing harder than its meant to and if it gets too hot either bad location or bad amp you can try turning the gain down a little until the amp stays on constantly at high volume
