Uniden BCD396XT Handheld Scanner Questions & Answers

Loaded freq per instructions scans and never stops to hear any chatter ie police and FD
The first thing I would try us to listen to the weather channels. You can get to them through the menu functions. If you can monitor a local weather channel, the scanner is working.
This is one of the first things I do. It's also a quick easy way to ensure you have a good antenna connection.
Once you verify it is working in the weather, recheck your frequencies. Start small outing a few certain agencies around you. Once they are working you can add more.

Uniden bcd396xt scanning but no sound coming from scanner
BCD386XT No sound. If it is actually stopping on an active broadcast and if you have the volume turned up (press down on volume button and release, then rotate to adjust) then the most likely cause is a failed speaker. Try a set of headphones in the jack on top by the antenna, if you have sound there it is most certainly a bad speaker. It is a very tiny speaker that is as thin as a nickel, many have been broken by a simple jar or by being played too loud by the hearing impaired. It is not hard to change but basic soldering skills are required. the speaker is available from uniden parts.

I accidentally locked out a "grp" and need to get back into it
Not sure if yours works the same as mine, but simply pressing the number button of the bank you've switched off will put it back into the scan again. So if you a dash or "*" instead of say bank #6, simply press the '6' button while it's scanning and it will be back in the scan. At least that's how my old one worked. Let me know if it works for you too. Good luck. You can also go to 'radioreference DOT com' and there is a Uniden scanner forum there I believe where you could also ask your question. 73.

Uniden BCD396XT...........I programmed my channels

While the unit is scanning the public service band (or other
preloaded like NEWS etc) press the Func button once, located on the left side
(the top one). Now within one second press the L/O button twice. This
permanently locks out that system. Pressing the L/O button only once will lock
out that band only until the next time you turn the scanner on, then it will be
back.
