Pioneer DEH-P2000 My radio works ok, but then suddenly goes to loud distorted volume. Up-down buttons have no effect, I have to shut the radio down to make it recover.

I had a similar problem (When radio was bumper or the PC board flexed, the front panel would loose any ops, and the audio would pop). The poping was caused by a DC voltage somehow getting onto the speaker outputs. It may not be specific help, but I simply removed and resoldered the audio PA and the main connector and my problems were solved.
