Error code S0042, DIMAGE G600

I HAVE A DIMAGE 600 WHICH DO NOT COMPLETELY OPEN OR CLOSE. IT KEEP DISPLAYING ERROR SYSTEM S0042. WHAT THIS MEAN AND HOW CAN BE FIX? I WILL APRECIATE YOUR HELP, THANKS.

    Camera will not open or close. error message S0042 is displayed

    When opening the lens cover,screen switches on but is blurred,then error code S0042 appears and LCD switches itself off

    I have the exact same problem with the lens stuck at halfway in and out.  The proposed twisting didn't work.  The mechanism doesn't really seem to twist and you can't get a good grip anyway.  Any other thoughts.

    I have the same problrm,, the camera slipped from me and the lense is stucked and wont move neither open nor close, I am from Jordan/ middle east

I had this problem with my 600. I noticed that the end, center, part of the focusing mechanism was slightly out of alignment. (The part that usually sticks out furthest.) Once I straightened that piece, it was able to retract and the camera could be closed. Look at the focusing mechanism from all sides to make sure it is straight. The part was very slightly off, but enough to cause the error. My camera has been working fine since.

The S0042 error code relates to a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended) Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!

The S0042 error code relates to a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended)

My maytag commercial washer display a code F26
This error code indicates that the door needs to be opened and closed.
The F26 code may appear the first time you try to use the washer. Open and close the door to clear the display.
The F26 code may also appear if the washer has run three cycles without the door being opened. Open and close the door to clear the display.
If opening and closing the door does not remove the error display, press Pause/Off or Pause/Cancel twice.
If Pause/Off or Pause/Cancel does not work:
  1. Unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute.
  2. Plug in the washer or reconnect the power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.

Installed ROM into a working HP LJ 4200n, now it does not work, it displays errors "rear door jam" and "cover open".
Check that ALL of the covers / doors are closed completely. If they are not closed completely and securely, the safety switch will not close and the printer will not work - and displays the error. Since the error is "rear door jam" check the back of the printer...a door panel may have popped open while you were working on installing the memory.

try these:-
  • connect it to pc and on it
  • vaccum the barrel of lens
  • changing mem. card and batt. for 2min.
  • shake it.
  • on and off in different positions
  • hit the part near lens softly with palm (trust me this made mine work)

Sustem Error S0042
Todd, What you can do is to powerit on and try to pull the lens out manually. Do not use too much strength or rotate. But try it a few times and the lens casing may stop touching the camera body. Once the lens comes out fully then the camera will boot up and work.

your lens mechanism is stuck up! try pulling the lens with slight force, if you are lucky the culprit that is blocking the mechanism will get loose. If you are not lucky theres no way you can remove or fix the problem than sending it to the authorized service center. =-(
