I'm not too sure as to what has happened to my camera but I seem to have a shutter problem. The lense won't go in or come all the way out. It's giving me a red and green light with the error message. I am a bit handy myself so I was able to take my camera apart. I was able to pull slightly on the lense itself and it came out perfectly. However when I put the camera back together the lense won't go all the way in nor will it come all the way out. Is there anything else I can do rather than bring it in to fix. (Much to pricy for me to be able to affor to do that)

i have the same problem. The lense is stuck out of the camera. I did not drop it, it simply would not go back in once a picture was taken.

Your lens mechanism is stuck up! try pulling the lens with slight force, if you are lucky the culprit that is blocking the mechanism will get loose. If you are not lucky theres no way you can remove or fix the problem than sending it to the authorized service center. =-(

So my lense on my canon camera was open when I dropped it and not it wont close Everything else works like I can see my pictures and all but I cant take pictures because it says lense error restart camera...

I'm afraid no words can solve this problem. If the lens is stuck in one position, or some gears are broke, the only thing that helps is a repair. But before you bring in the camera, contact a Canon certified repair centre and ask what it will cost to repair a camera after you dropped it. The repair could easy cost more than a new camera with better specs, so consider buying a new one too.

Error code S0042, DIMAGE G600

The S0042 error code relates to a problem with the zooming mechanism (lens would not retract or extended)
Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. Let me know if it worked!

I need to READ the battery charger instructions for a Minolta Dimage G500?

I suggest you charge the battery overnight and in the morning if the LED does not change color then the Red LED on the charger only indicates that there is mains power to the charge adapter.

Sustem Error S0042

Todd, What you can do is to powerit on and try to pull the lens out manually. Do not use too much strength or rotate. But try it a few times and the lens casing may stop touching the camera body. Once the lens comes out fully then the camera will boot up and work.

Lens will not extend

Hi:

You need to clean around the lense first. Blow high pressure air spray and get the most sand out of the lense you possibly can.

If it did not open 100%, try to pull it out NOT too hard. If the lese goes up and down and turns you should follow the lense while pulling it out.

When it is 100% out, (the way normally opens) Clean around the lense more.

Turn you camera on and off a few times. It should be back to normal.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When i turn on the camera the lens wont pop open even when the battery is fully charged.... i was taking pictures and it working fine turn the camera off and on again then the lens wont open anymore? i can...

The problem is
1- some dirt somehow got on the outside of the lense. After it was retracted fully in, it prevents the camera from opening again. When you turn it on, if it opens a little bit, try to pull it out NOT too hard and let go a few times. If it opened, clear the outside of the lense. Your camera should be back to normal.
2- If you droped the camera, you probably damaged or dislocated a mechanical part of the lense. You may have to take out the lense by unscrewing it and inspect it for damged parts or disconnected cable. Make sure clean the lense and test it by moving it in and out a few times, before puting it back on the camera.

Good luck!!!!!!!

"turn off and on again"

a few weeks ago i dropped my camera in the sea and i thought, ****. i was in the same boat, so i opened the shutter myself and turned on the camera and it works and takes pictures but the shutter wont close again so if you can make sure you have no dirt in your lense and you can manually open the shutter yourself it may work and if it stops turning on all together keep charging it and once it goes green turn the switch off and on again until it always turns green then it should work again.

Error code S0042, DIMAGE G600

I had this problem with my 600. I noticed that the end, center, part of the focusing mechanism was slightly out of alignment. (The part that usually sticks out furthest.) Once I straightened that piece, it was able to retract and the camera could be closed. Look at the focusing mechanism from all sides to make sure it is straight. The part was very slightly off, but enough to cause the error. My camera has been working fine since.
