It could be a lid sensor issue, due to the fact that pressing on the door seem to temporarily fix the problem. Then again, honestly im really not familiar with washers that old, so i don't even know if it would have a lid sensor, much like older cars don't have seat belts, so im not exactly sure when they started introducing lid safety switches on washers. In any case, i would try and check for a lid switch/sensor and if so, try finding a replacement for it.

Hoover hpe 236. water not draining, stops mid cycle, lights flash

Have you checked the pump filter, and or that the pump is actually working. if it spins o/k with no water in, then I would suspect a draining problem.
If filter clean and pump o/k, then it could be a control module fault. if this were the case, then it would probably be wiser to purchase a new washer.
Hope this is of some help to you.

Washer stopping mid-cycle

Push down on lid. You may have a bad lid switch. Start machine and press the switch down with something like a screwdriver and see if the motor runs.

Hoover 800 RLA washing machine spins slow or not at all.

Hi,
It sounds like the electric motor is dying!
Either pay a serviceman to come in to confirm this or buy a new machine.
New motors can cost anywhere from $380AUD to $600AUD.

No power

Hi lushman001

I'm Harvey the Master Plunber.

Your question is: your 3-yr-old dishwasher (Whirlpool 24-inch ) stopped in mid-cycle. A small amount standing water in the bottom of the washer. None of the control panel buttons were lit up and none of them will work. NO POWER

First check all the breakers (or fuses).
Second check the electrical connections. If you're not a qualified electrician or service tech then call one. It"s under the unit behind the kickplate.

My 5 year old Hoover 500 mb has started to stop mid cycle or not progress through the cycle !

Mate, I just had the same fault with the same model machine. The local machine repair man called me (i'm a sparky) to double check things for him. The macine stopped at the pre wash rinse part of the cycle every load. He replaced the timer with two NEW ones which both had the same fault as the original. We now suspect an inherrent fault in the timer design but as yet dont have an answer.
