I can only give a partial answer to the problem. I had the same issue so i went to the load screen and selected the last saved game like you did, except from there i saved again (NOT AN AUTO SAVE, OR YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR PROGRESS)after moving a few steps. Reset then selected the game i just saved and when it loaded i had a successful load and left the cave with full play capabilities. Out of curiosity, what cave were you in? Was it the weapons delivery job for the fighters guild? my problem is that ive closed 5 gates since then and leveled up 4 times. i realy dont have to save too often since ive learned to duplicate objects like healing potions and invisibility potions! So if anyone figures this out it would save me a ton of work.
Sounds like a game bug, either that or this bug only occurs for this particular game disk.. check it out on a different ps3, or like i would do, return it or sell it

I had just hit level 9 i saved it and left for a while. then when i tried loading again ps3 says 100% press x i did that then the oblivion bar moves a tiny bit and stops.Then i have to force shut down.I mentioned level 9 because i read that a few other people had this problem at 9.
Oblivion IV Elderscrolls fails to load. Indicator bar stops and load freezes. The only way I have found to get around this is to go back to a previous known good save. Pretty sucky.
When I put the Elder Scrolls 4: GoTY in and try to load up the first loading part works, but its the screen where there are like pictures in the background. The bar goes up nearly full way and then my entire ps3 locks. The music is still playing but i can't do anything with the ps3 except switch it off. :( I'm a pretty high level too ad hve spent many hours on this game..
Any other ways of helping? (Ones that don't include loss of saved game data) :(:(
mine loads the data but it goes onto the secound load and freezez
