Any coarse thread screw about 1/2" long will work. There's no real "threads" inside, its just cut when they put the screws in at the factory.

SOURCE: can't get bottom plate off hoover model

Am a bit confused because I can't find the model number you give on the Hoover website, so am not sure exactly which machine we're dealing with. However, the procedure for removing the bottom plate is common to most self-propelled upright wind-tunnel models, and it's simply a matter of laying the machine flat, turning it over and removing the four recessed screws that hold it in place. It can then just be lifted off. If this doesn't work for you, perhaps you could confirm the model number and I'll try again. It will also help if you say what country you're in. Good luck!

on this model there will also be 2 more screws at the top near the back on each side. the hood will come off. there will also be a cover over the roller, remove this with 3 screws, this will expose the area of the belt.

in the front on the bottom you will see 2 slots put a small screwdriver in and push up on the clips in the slots and the bottom cover will come off .be careful not to break the clips.just push up on the clip and pull out on the cover at the same time.before you replace the belt clean the old rubber off the motor shaft first ,if you don't the new belt won't last very long

How to replace belt on hoover SH40060

You have to remove the roller to get to the belt' look at the face and bottom to find the screws that hold the plate that covers the roller. Take the plate off and look @ the roller, to see where the belt runs. then take the roller out, you should be able to see the pin shaft that comes from the motor, the belt goes around it and over the roller.Be patient putting it all back together, and don't over tighten the screws, they strip easily, Good luck!

How do you put a Hoover runabout belt on vacuum

I found this on another site and it worked for me. RonL

Looking at the brush, remove the two screws from the black plate holding the brush. There are two clips that holds this plate once you remove the screws. This should be easy to remove with a flat type screw driver. Now is the tricky part to remove the top cover of the vacuum so you can access the compartment to put the belt on. The whole top part of this vacuum comes off. If you look above the part where black plate was, there are two more clips on the top left and top right hand corner. These two hold one end of the top cover. It is not as simple as pushing the clip to one end to slide out. You have to find a gap between the edge of top cover and bottom structure(right next to each clip) and shove the flat screw driver in and push the top cover away from the bottom structure and push down the top cover. You will notice that there are invisible hinges between the two which locks in the top cover.

Do the same procedure for the bottom right and left edges(right next to each end of the brush) of the vacuum and separate the two(bottom structure and top cover) out using the flat type screw driver..

How to take the bottom off to replace the belt on a Hoover Elite U5061-900

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Some Hoover Elites have either screws or clips and the bottom plate should come off without a problems. Or if that is not the case then once you remove the screws then the top cover will come off and you can replace the belt from the top. If you have further questions please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area, or contact the Hoover website and or the cust serv phone # @ Hoover listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Usually there are screws, clips or levers on the bottom of the vacuum and you need to either remove the bottom plate and once you have taken the screws, etc. out the top cover will come off. And then you can proceed with the removal and the install of the new belt. 1st you need to remove @ least one end of the Hoover brushroll and take of the old belt and slide on a new belt. Once the belt is on the pulley side of the brushroll; then re-install the brushroll. Make sure that the brush is spinning freely B4 you install the new belt, then take a belt puller or a screwdriver with a left or right hand hook to use as a belt puller and then stretch the belt onto the motor pulley, then take and roll the belt until it is tracking straight and then re-install the top cover and or the bottom plate, tighten down the screws, levers or clips. So, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hoover US8174-900 Savvy Bagless

It uses a cogged belt, turn it over, remove the bottom plate, remove the other screws from the bottom, turn vac back over and remove the Hoover emblem, there is a screw there to remove and the top comes off, then you can get to and replace the belt.
