High fan noise

Above the passenger's feet, 3 bolts to loosen and it comes right out...

Fan like noise may be a fan or the color wheel---color wheel spins at high speed(lamp faces it) and when failing you will have a high pitched or fan like sound---hard failure and you will hear a grinding sound.

A high pitched noise from the fan unit, means a bearing issue from the motor. You must replace the fan motor to get rid of the noise.

The high pitched noise you hear is most likely caused by the CPU cooling fan on your laptop. If you suspect that this high pitched sound is caused by the fan going out, you can spray your laptop with compressed air to get the dust off of the fan.
This solution will make your laptop work at a cooler temperature, and reduce the noise.

If the problem persists, seek a certified laptop repair specialist.

mcdevito75, I would have a handy man look at the Fans hook up to the ceiling to make sure it:s still tight. The fan vibration could have looened it from the ceiling do not us efan on high till it:s checked, handy man / women in every area, just ask around.

The fan makes noise in high preformance windows like windows vista&7. So it is normal, because the windows uses motherboard,ram and graphics card with high preformance so they get hotter, so the fan get stronger to cool them or they will be damaged.
This noise also exist in windows xp, but only when opening high graphics game, or being working with the laptop for along time.

Then you will need to stop the fan and see if the noise is still there. If yes then its in the compressor. If it goes away then replace the fan

Possibly the color wheel bearings are starting to go bad

the only two moving parts in a computer are the cooling fan and the hard drive.  Some fans have two speeds.
