need to aling timing marks for the camshaft to the marks on the valve cover marks and the dot on the cranshaft gear to the oil pump housing mark

Working headlights with no running lights usually means a bad headlight switch. They are not available new, try a junkyard or ebay... good luck... Chris

There is a copper cam inside the motor that gets dirty and corroded, and must be cleaned if not damaged too severely. These motors and parts are not available new. Best bet is to buy a used rebuilt motor with a guarantee. maybe off ebay. You have to pull the entire assembly out to replace that motor, make sure when reconnecting that you don't have the 2 motors out of sync with each other (one is up while the other is down... cute, but not what you want)... good luck... 1994 Mercury Capri ac does not have a cabin air filter. Weak air flow and bad smell could be debris in the fresh air/ac inputs. Check under the hood for debris where the air enters, the area under the wiper, and behind the vents inside, they get clogged if you park under a shedding tree...Chris

This is a simple problem to solve.
To replace the timing belt the mark on the camshaft pulley should be aligned with the engine block/valve cover and the mark on the crankshaft pulley should be aligned with the mark on the engine block.
The marks may be a white mark or an indentation.

When this is done one of the cylinders will be at TDC (Top Dead Center). In this position the ALL THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST VALVES IN THAT CYLINDER WILL BE CLOSED (compression stroke). Get the correct cylinder. Remove the spark plug in that cylinder. Back off the piston slightly and pack a length of a small diameter rope into the spark plug hole until full. Leave one end out for removal! Now when you turn the crankshaft nut the piston will push against the rope and the engine will not turn. You can get a manual from the library, auto supply shops or internet.

Some books suggests compressed air with a sparkplug adapter. That's elaborate and too noisy.

Make sure those marks are aligned on final assembly ! The valves will hit the pistons if not.

Out the bottom my removing the exhaust pipe and pushing the exhaust pipe/cat converter to the side OR Out the top by removing the assembly with the hoses to the right of the throttle body...

The a-c/heater fan is above the passenger's feet, 3 bolts to loosen and it drops right out. If the fan doesn't work on some speeds and works for others, there is a resistor that can be replaced to fix it...if the fan comes on for any speed, then its a good fan...good luck...Chris

The blower motor should be on the passenger side under the glove box. The noise is probably the bearing in the motor.

Horn and cruise share the same fuse, check that. Also, clockspring inside the steering wheel could be messed up, that's a little tedious repair, find a junkyard wheel, pull it and hand it to your mechanic if the fues is good...Good luck... Chris
