I know it means unbalnced load, the machine can slowly spin to drop the washing load from the top, to rectify the balance problem, but it can do this for hours !! Is this a main board or sensor problem, how do i check, any reset functions on these machines ? That would be a great start !
The balance is controlled by the motor. if its unbalanced it usually means its overloaded or the shocks on the drum are misaligned or the springs are weak or stretched. worst case the bearing has gone. so check these.

An UE Error Code is indicative of a “Unbalanced Error”. This indicates that the drum is not spinning in a smooth rotation. It may be necessary to rearrange the load in the drum. I found this answer on the lg web site.

IE:
• Water supply is not adequate in
area.
• Water supply taps are not
completely open.
• Water inlet hose is bent.
• The filter of the inlet hose clogged.
Solution:
Check another tap in the house.
Fully open tap.
Straighten hose.
Check the filter of the inlet hose.
UE:
• Load is too small.
• Load is out of balance.
• The appliance has an imbalance
detection and correction system. If
individual heavy articles are loaded
(bath mat, bath robe, etc.) and the
imbalance is too great, after several
attempts to restart the spin cycle the
machine will stop and the error code
will be displayed.
Solution:
Add 1 or 2 similar items to help
balance the load.
Rearrange load to allow proper
spinning.

it means uneven load do u have a pillow in there or something that soaks up lots of water!!

My machine is doing just the same! It is about the same age as yours. I cannot believe this is it working properly, but the manufacurers are no help.
I am seriously thinking of getting rid of it, and would be loathe to touch an LG again.
