Dell monitor 2005FPW keeps on flashing

I have a dell monitor 2005FPW and it keeps on flashing when i turn it on. I believe it has something to do with the lock in the back. When i connect it to my pc it turns on but about 2 mins later it starts to flash. the screen and the buttons. Please help

My dell 2005FPW also is flashing. The 1 on the bottom of the monitor (green), the power button (green) and the screen blink about every second. I can hear a faint high pitch noise coming from the monitor in the back every time it flashes.

I was having the same problem.
I solved it by replacing the two 47µF capacitors on the power supply/inverter board.
I actually removed all the capacitors (around 13) and all checked out fine except for the two 47µF.
I forgot to take pictures or even write down the capacitor label on the board.
They are located close to the logic board connector

Dell 2005FPW screen turns black after a second ,can not get it back on

this is a fairly common problem. The backlight circuit is probably shot. Not much to do but replace the monitor.

My dell 2005fpw flashing screen

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Flashing on and off

I would suggest trying another monitor to rule out your PC or monitor card. I would also check the video settings on the PC. Then assuming your cable/connector and video card are okay, it sounds like a lamp or lamp driver (a.k.a. ballast or inverter) issue. In other words, an internal issue that probably needs component-level troubleshooting.
