Hi, I have a KDS 468p monitor, it worked awesome until yesterday. This morning I pressed the button to turn it on and it just started flickering the power light and the screen, and it makes a little click too, like from the speakers or something. Is there anyway to fix it?

I had this problem with my Dell 2005FPW as well, it was the inverter, i ordered the part for around $60 after S&H and installed it at home.

I would suggest trying another monitor to rule out your PC or monitor card. I would also check the video settings on the PC. Then assuming your cable/connector and video card are okay, it sounds like a lamp or lamp driver (a.k.a. ballast or inverter) issue. In other words, an internal issue that probably needs component-level troubleshooting.

Dell s2309wb flickers a bit and then turns off at any brightness setting under 73%. After turning off and on, shuts off again after a few seconds. 4.7 year old monitor.

older post DELL says its 10 years old made in 2008
yes,
did you test this monitor unplugged on PC using the OSD screen
for 10 seconds, each power on OSD works.
see if 50% brightness works, if yes, the PC has problems.
seems you did and did not test monitor on other PC
and did not test your PC on other monitor,.both simple tests.

you are now speculating that one brand is better that another,
Viewsonic is best, HP and deLL< others not so.
what you failed to do is test your PC with known good monitor
and test the monitor on a known good PC.
2 tests. that yell truth.

Id go Viewsonic, we have many here, not one failed ever.
2010 or newer,
back in before year 2010 LED monitors they had JUNK monitors.
with weak low life, CCFL tubes inside, as YOURS DOES.
all monitors had that then, its not maker name issue at ALL.
here is how I discover truth,
1: I PRETEND TO BUY THE MAIN BOARD IN YOUR MONITOR.
AND LOW AND BELOLD CCFL H3LL IS THERE,
  • go dim,
  • go yellow on white pages.
  • strobe.
  • totally crazy random works or not,
  • blinks
  • will not dim right.(gee they are now old and weak)
  • last 20,000 hrs (not much) and do all the above,
  • now your board see these 4 jacks on the left 1000vdc to CCLF.
I have posted these hard fact there at fixya 100 + times.
here it is 1 more time.
I have the same tubes in my garage ceiling laps 8ft long and do the same thing.

My dell 1720 will start to boot, the hard drive light flickers about 6 time then stops. the backlight comes on and then laptop does nothing else

Hello,
Your problem may be the video card. Also, download Hirens Boot CD( google it) and burn the iso onto a CD. Then plop it into your machine, and hit F8. See if it boots that up.

It is normal to flicker if the computer is turned on (on a cold boot), but there could be a problem on it if it keeps on flickering inside the operating system.

You don't have a short-circuit. That would have blown the protections or even the monitor. Refer to the manual, that flashing light may be a code that tells you the problem. I don't think the repair would be expensive...

Dell 2005FPW Monitor Flicker problem

The flickering is most likely the florescent backlight having a hard time starting, Just like in a light fixture, as it gets old, it takes longer to warm up to get full functionality.
If under warranty, contact Dell for a replacement, if not, then when it becomes untenable, replace the monitor. Prices are dropping drastically, an new 20 or 22 In can be bought for about $150 or less

I was given a dell 2005fpw screen by a friend and im not sure if i've damaged it. When you plug it in to the mains and turn it on it comes up with the dell screen but after that the screen flickers and im...

if the screen is flickering it could be a bad monitor. Try hooking up another known good working one if you can. If the known good working monitor works then you know the dell monitor you were given is bad. If you get the same flickering result then make sure you wait until your laptop boots up into windows then try to change the output to the monitor. If you can get a picture then try the other monitor to see if you can get a picture as well.

If you can get pictures with both monitors then you know it was a matter of changing the output on the laptop if you get a picture on one but not the other then you know one of the monitors is bad. Depending on the laptop you have will depend on what key combination is used to change the video output to the monitor.

Do you have the original order number still? Depending on how you purchased the monitor it may have up to a 3 year manufacturer warranty and I may be able to replace it if it is within that warranty period. Please email me at [email protected] if you can locate the order number and I'll be glad to see if its still under the manufacturer warranty.
