i have (or probably had) the same problem. Try this - there is a small reset button on the left side panel of the camcorder. While the set is on VCR model press this and keep pressed for 30 seconds or so. The corrected image should return and probably the problem would go away. I tried this by chance and the problem doesn't seem to recur.

I have another problem though:
In my Sony DCR-TRV27 - A part of the left side console buttons do not work - the tape controls (REW, FF, STOP, PAUSE, PLAY) work alright. The Memory Stick controls seem to work alright. But, pressing the Menu button does not bring any menu display on the screen. Similarly, the scrolling wheel on the front seems not working. A couple of years back the moisture went inside (I went to Niagara falls!). For few weeks whole of the panel wasn't working but now most of it works. But I cannot get the Menu option work. I would be glad to hear if you have any other suggestions / advises. thanks for your time,

Try Finalizing the DVD disc on the Camcorder or the DVD Recorder before trying to copy the DVD on the Computer.
