Re: Sony DCRTRV 25 : Getting 31:23 error message
Possible pinch roller problem. The pinch roller rubs against the capstan motor to pull out of the cassette .This pinch roller seems to fall completely or loose causing the error. The other possiblity is that the capstan motor is not turning ..might need repair..

Yes sounds as though the audio playback head had become misaligned by the drop... You will have to get it back in position again. Thats a job and a half though, really only something that can be done by a tech?
my camera used to do that too as a matter of fact its just how some cameras are i used to be in a video class with cameras in high school and college , if you have to turn the lc panel the other way for it to work so the lcd panel must be turned away from you when your filming then to watch it you can turn it around i hope this helps you if not reply to me at Jonk3y @aol.com
Your code indicates that the supply reel is not turning or is not supplying a pulse so that the camcorder "thinks" it's turning. Hard to say why that's happening without seeing the camcorder. Is there a tape stuck in the unit?
according to this it is supported with windows vista but im not so sure. just use it on your own risk.
select an OS and download. install it to your pc and it should be working after that. hope that helps!
Sony says the unit needs a power reset (error 31). Unplug the camera, remove the battery and wait several minutes before re-attaching the battery and/or AC cable. Then power the camera back up. The 23 code says you need to use a InfoLithium battery-- apparently these are smart batteries that give data back to the camera. These error codes seem to be quite common however, and so a hardware issue may be the case. Some users have said that removing the battery while the camera is powered on will clear the codes. Others advocate "smacking" the camera, I would not however, recommend this. www.sony.com is a good place to look for more information.
