WENT TO PUT TV ON HEARD A 'POP' NOW NOTHING, NO POWER AT ALL, NO BLUE LIGHT. PLEASE ADVISE. TV ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD.

Sounds like a warranty job - pop noises are electrical shorts - Possibly the power supply unit.

The loud pop was a capacitor blowing up or the high voltage transformer blew up. Very common problem.. if its the Transformer be expected to pay 250 or more to have repaired.

You need to replace the lamp in this set. The "pop" you heard was the lamp popping.

SOURCE: 52 inch rear projection tv turns off after a minute

try turning off the auto shut off feature in you set up screens . you can find them through the menu button on your remote. scroll through till you find it and turn it off.

SOURCE: My toshiba 50HN67 TV won't power on.

I have the same TV and had the same problems. What worked for me. I tuned off the set unbluged the TV, waited about five minutes and replugged and resolved my problem. Hope this works for you.

Sounds like the DLP lamp failed. You can decipher the Hitachi flashing red light. That should help to be sure.
The DLP lamp replacement is fairly straightforward and can be done with minimal tools

Power supply in most cases and a lot of the time the part is under a heat sink where you cannot see it.

the lamp has blown replace if got instruction book that came with tv shows you how if not got the lamp is behind cover on side or frount cover that comes off by undoing two black screws on back corners (each lower corner) anda sharp pull will remove cover
