Just asking. I don't know how long I have owned my dvd/vcr player. I think it has been at least three years. Everything works fine except for the dvd open button. This is a huge problem because I can't eject or open the dvd tray. I am just wondering if this is something I could fix easily or if I should invest in a new player. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Because this product is a combination of a VCR and a DVD recorder, you must select first which component you wish to operate with VCR/DVD DVD mode Press DVD on the remote control. Verify that the DVD indicator is lit VCR mode Press VCR on the remote control.(Verify that the VCR indicator is lit OR I set up this pdf link...click on it and it will show you all necessary steps http://www.helpowl.com/manuals/toshiba-dvr670-owners-manual-english-70453af.pdf
Well - it's fixed - but no thanks to anything I did. It's just all of a sudden working fine again. I tried three different dvd's the other night, and all were black and white. But last night the same dvd's were back to colour. Who knows?
But thanks for asking.
I have a DVD player, a VCR player, a TV set all hook into an RCA RT2250 Audio/Video receiver. Everything was working fine until 2 days ago. Now the DVD player gives me a great pix but no sound. The VCR,and TV are just fine and I have checked everything out, speaker connections, mute buttons, etc. and nothing seems to be wrong. I am thinking that some thing in the receiver got fried. Is it repairable?
I was having the same issue and I've been to several video stores to rent DVDs and 2 out of 3 rentals have the same affect where it is just 'reading' but even worse, it would play fine and then freeze up during the movie- very frustrating. Now, after 3 years of owning it, it died today. They just don't make them the way they used to :(
I had a similar problem and corrected it with a solution found on another site. Try hitting the I/P button on the remote which controls whether "Interlaced" or "Progressive Scan" is used to display the image on the TV. Mine worked when "Interlaced" was used. but no picture was displayed when "Progressive Scan" was used. The I/P button toggles between the two settings.
