I have an Apex VCR/DVD ADV 3800. Has worked fine until two high school boys came to visit over Thanksgiving holidays. Now I cannot get the thing to display any image on screen. I have S video connected, RCA video cables connected. TV works fine on it's own. Neither VCR or DVD works. I think the problem is getting the "picture" from the Apex box into the TV. ??????
I had a similar problem and corrected it with a solution found on another site. Try hitting the I/P button on the remote which controls whether "Interlaced" or "Progressive Scan" is used to display the image on the TV. Mine worked when "Interlaced" was used. but no picture was displayed when "Progressive Scan" was used. The I/P button toggles between the two settings.

I have a ADV3800 Combo from APEX, I cannot get it to Record. I have the TV set to Channel 3 and when I put a tape in to record, I set the VCR to antenna and insert the channel I want to record. It will not record my designated channel. So I tried to change the channel signal to cable and input the channel I want to record and still nothing My connections are going through a TW cable box, which I am not turning on, I figure the signal should be in the DVD/VCR box. The cable box is a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300.. Thank you
