Question about Toshiba DVR670 Player

How do you use the VHS function on the Toshiba DVR670 player?

Hi guys, I recently purchased a Toshiba DVR670 DVD/VCR player, but don't know how to get it to play my tape. The furthest I could get was getting the sound playing, but nothing would show on the tv screen but 'No Video Signal'. I tried everything, don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Because this product is a combination of a VCR and a DVD recorder, you must select first which component you wish to operate with VCR/DVD DVD mode Press DVD on the remote control. Just bought a Toshiba refurbished DVD/VCR player. The remote doesn't work at all. I've doublechecked the NEW batteries and tried a tip of pushing EVERY button with the batteries out. Any ideas

1) the batteries will be the same type and full charged
2) clean the contacts battery from dirty, dust, oxide or corrosion
3) retight the spring contacts battery with pliers for a GOOD contacts
4) open the remote.control and clean the keypads switch, from dirty, dust, oxide, Open contacts, or Bad contacts. they emite a good signal infrared from SYScon transmi vs Syscon receiver.
see the block diagram. If doesnot resolve the problem go to the repair shop TV for fix it.

DVDs recorded from VHS with Toshiba DVR670 will not play on any PC or DVD player

Possible that the format is not recognised or if a program needs to be installed into the PC for playback.
If the VHS was not compressed and then digitised , the format can be having errors and so is not playing. we need to cross check this out before we can confirm the error.
Please test with the recorded version on another PC and also try with another recorder.

If the entire VHS is full then you can easily transfer the VHS contents to the DVD. The video will play while it is recording onto the DVD, but you don't have to have it hooked up to any TV for it to record. Now if you don't know how long the VHS content is that you want to record to DVD, then you will have to hook up the player to a TV so that you can press stop when you reach the end of the content you want recorded. At least this is true in the way that I use to transfer VHS to DVD:

1) Turn on the unit
2) Insert VHS tape
3) Insert DVD-+R or DVD-+ RW
4) Using remote, press VCR
5)Using remote, press play then pause the tape where you want to start recording.
6)Using remote, press DVD
7) Using the remote, press DUBBING. The VHS should start to play and the DVD should start recording

When using this method, don't hit the RECORD button!

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO RECORD

Well it depends on what you're recording. If you're trying to record from the T.V. your going to have issues because of the recent switch to digital. If you're recording from homemade VHS to DVD however just put in your VHS, then your blank DVD and hit record. There should be some on screen instructions displayed.

Also you'll probably also have issues trying to convert your old VHS movie collection to DVD because most of the movies would probably be copyright protected.

Usually, depending on the source, or channel, timer recording can be performed on a VCR; even this model.

The short answer is YES - you can record cable times or set manual scheduled recordings on this VCR. It depends on the channel(s) available in your area, and/or the source (such as cable receivers/set top boxes, etc.) which are intended to be recorded.
